Not what I expected from the reviews. First of all, I ordered a coke, it come in a beer glass half a pint on a stem glass , it was flat and tasted cheap not a proper brand I let it go didn’t say anything usually you get a glass bottle with ice and a glass here mine come in a beer glass, I ordered chicken shish. It was so small, hardly no salad that wasn’t a Turkish salad there was no red onion no cabbage no nothing it was just ice burg lettuce and cuecumber with a sprinkle of red powder the rice wasn’t even hot let alone warm small portion!! Really gutted first time visit and found it to be the worst Turkish restaurant I’ve visted!! You didn’t get no bread or pitta bread with it it was just so upsetting I had to order a portion of chips half way through my meal because I just knew that it wasn’t going to take away the hunger, really gutted if I’m honest, I found the staff more interested in standing outside having a social gathering than entertaining the customers inside It’s not professional I give honest reviews and opinions and I wouldn’t recommend this from other restaurants I’ve been too.. Each to there own tho . It’s a no from me won’t be returning

My family and I have been going to Özgür for over twenty years.The food is delicious, authentically Turkish and the best you'll find in Kent.Mustafa and his friendly staff will always greet you with a smile.I can't recommend enough!

We booked this based on tripadvisor reviews but weren't too sure what to expect. The food was lovely and fresh and flavoursome. The broad beans from the cold meze menu might look bland but they're so zesty and well marinated - moreish. The vine leaves are a highlight as well. The lamb shish is deliciously cooked over charcoal, and was consistently perfect- each cube with just the right amount of pink. The aubergine main was tender and tasty and generously sized with lovely grilled peppers. The service was friendly and relaxed and good with lots of recommendations. The best of all however was the cold rice puddings- cinammon and perfect levels of creaminess. Worth a visit!!

We went on a Friday night when it was busy but not packed. The food was all delicious: very fresh, beautifully cooked and also very generous portions. The sea bass and the swordfish were excellent. We also had some very good Turkish wine, which was not on the wine list, at an incredibly reasonable £20 per bottle. The atmosphere was very good: it felt like a family restaurant with guests chatting to complete strangers at other tables. I had been here before and had forgotten just how great it was: We will certainly be back again.

I’ve been to this great restaurant many times, with family and with friends and have always been happy with our experiences. The staff are lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Food is always delicious, tasty and fresh and lots of options. Prices are reasonable and restaurant itself is lovely. Highly recommend this little gem of a place if you’e in Tenterden- worth a trip there if you’re not!
