Friendly staff, we looked with envious eyes at the afternoon tea someone else was having, which looked amazing. You might have to book as it's limited capacity.

Small but perfectly formed tea room. Beautiful fresh sandwich scones and cake. Had a lovely afternoon tea here

Very pleasant tea shop in the centre of Tenterden. We visited at lunchtime. They sell a good selection of sandwiches, rolls baguettes and savouries. We had tuna and egg mayonnaise baguettes. Both were well filled and the coffee was good. Prices were reasonable.Well worth a visit.

I visited Peggotty's Tea Shoppe with friends after a recommendation from someone living locally. We had the Tenterden Special Afternoon Tea which was £17pp and included a sandwich, a fruit or plain homemade scone, served with homemade jam and clotted cream, a slice of cake and a pot of loose leaf tea or a cup of filter coffee. The tea room is quaint and very small in size so booking is definitely required. We arrived 10 minutes early for our table and did not receive the warmest of welcome, so I would say don't turn up any earlier than your booked time as there is no space to sit and wait for your table.I decided to try the camomile tea but didn't enjoy the taste but the English breakfast tea was really nice. All the food tasted amazing; the sandwich fillings were so flavoursome, we had smoked salmon and cream cheese, BLT, prawn and avocado & brie and streaky bacon. We all chose the fruit scone and they were so warm and fluffy. The rolo cake tasted lovely but not an overpowering rolo taste that I was hoping for!The price was incredibly reasonable, I just wish the service was friendlier as I just felt disappointed after our visit as if we were an inconvenience to them.

Looked like a lovely little tea room so thought why not, let’s pop in. Lovely ambience about the place and grabbed a window seat. Wife had the leek & potato soup with a delicious cheese scone. I went for the Peggoties Cream Tea, Scone, jam and cream were sublime. The actual leaf tea was fabulous. Took the coffee & Walnut cake home for supper. Not the cheapest tea room but you get what you pay for and the quality was superb. Very friendly staff. Overall a lovely experience.

Wife had a delisous cream tea which included a huge cake, I had poached egg on granary bread x 2, fantastic. Pot of tea each which we got 3 cups from each. I WILL call again when we are in the area. Easy 5 stars.

We love going to Peggoty's. Always good service and a menu of local favourites. It is particularly good for taking my 91 year old mother. She wants a menu that is fundamentally English and in which she can order a small portion without feeling awkwardIdeally a little more floor space would allow the tables to be separated somewhat but in Tenterden that will always be a challengeThe small space and the fact that they accept BuyaGift-style vouchers means that Peggoty's is frequently full, therefore pre-booking is highly recommended

I went today with my husband for afternoon tea, it was by far the most superior one we have had. The sandwiches were delicious coronation chicken for my husband & tuna mix for me, the bread was so soft & tasty. We have been for quite a few over the years, the scones and jam were delicious ?

Had a wonderful afternoon tea. Choosing your own sandwich was a much better idea and the coleslaw was a delightful addition. Will certainly book again.

A quaint, old-fashioned tea shop (one of those places which evokes thoughts of "Miss Marple") with welcoming, friendly, helpful staff. We only called in for a cup of coffee (which was very good) but it looked like there were some tasty snacks on the menu. We will, more than likely, return to try one of those snacks.

My wife and I went to Peggotty’s Tea Shoppe in Tenterden for an Afternoon Tea for Two, having been gifted a voucher from friends of ours. We have had afternoon teas on a few previous occasions at other places but to be honest, whist this establishment is somewhat smaller than previous places, Peggotty’s is the best by far. In the hotels we’ve been before for teas for two apart from explaining any dietary restrictions you do not get any choice of food options. At Peggotty’s you choose the type of sandwich including the filling, you choose the type of scone, you choose the type of cake, you choose the flavour of tea or coffee. Basically, you get what you want, not what the establishment chooses for you, dietary preferences allowing. Definitely will go back for more. By the way, another bonus is they are dog-friendly so you can take your pooch(es) with you.
