Our lunch experience here had ups and downs unfortunately. The environment and ambiance are fabulous, it was worth it just for them. We really enjoyed the wines, and the food was promising but was let down by the lack of seasoning and exacerbated by the arrogant lack of salt and pepper on the table. I say arrogant because the diner should have the option of adding seasoning if he/she wishes. The chive emulsion under my orzo croquette was delicious, wonderfully rich and savoury, but the croquette itself was TOTALLY tasteless and unseasoned, without even a hint of the promised truffle or even the parmesan. The gin-cured salmon looked very pretty and was delicately flavoured - my husband enjoyed it. We also enjoyed our main courses, particularly the Slow Cooked Feather Blade of Beef which had a wonderful texture, and the pigeon breast which was nicely pink and accompanied by a good, tasty sauce. The Ratte sauteed potatoes with thyme, rosemary and garlic were again totally unseasoned and tasted of nothing, even the herbs and garlic barely came through. The puddings luckily did not disappoint: the mixed berry parfait with a pineapple sorbet and the sticky date pudding with banana sorbet were both scrumptious although I would have preferred a banana icecream rather than sorbet to make it all overwhelmingly rich and delicious! The service regrettably was an absolute disgrace. We accepted the suggestion of having a drink in the bar on arrival and were promptly provided with menus and an excellent sparkling wine. This was at 1.30pm. Nobody came to take our order so eventually we signalled the Md'H who told us that this would be dealt with once we were seated at our table - which finally happened at 2.20pm......... So, having ordered, we had a longish wait before the food appeared. We had more longish waits between courses and our dirty plates were not cleared promptly so we were left with them sitting in front of us. There were plenty of staff around but they simply didn't do what was necessary. When we finished our puddings, we waited for someone to clear and ask whether we wanted coffee. Nothing happened and eventually, after a long wait and with mounting exasperation, my husband got up and went to talk to a couple of waitresses who were standing chatting and polishing cutlery. One of them immediately came over and took the coffee order, which arrived with the bill. Having drunk the coffee and checked the bill, we waited for somebody to come and clear/take payment. Nobody...... Even though there were staff around. My husband then started waving the small red folder with the bill very visibly but yet again, it was at least a minute if not two before a waitress took notice and came over. We enjoyed our experience at The Swan and do recommend it, but the management really needs to pull its socks up and sort things out.

Food and service I would give 4*. Nicely presented and good flavours. Could be more options on the menu. I found the prices of the wines fairly outrageous however. In the shop downstairs the sparkling wine is priced at £28. Go up one flight of stairs to the restaurant and the very same bottle is £48, just to be served chilled in a glass. You travel a long way to visit the winery and therefore cut out the travel costs of transporting the wine. I would expect the restaurant to offer the wine at the same price as the shop (which is already at a profitable price, I assume). I fear this place is becoming over commercialised and trying to rip people off in the restaurant. It left a sour taste I’m afraid.

After our tour of the Chapel Down Winery we had lunch at the vineyard's Swan restaurant. It is a lovely Michelin star eatery featuring award-winning British cuisine made from the region's finest produce, meats and seafood. Everything was good and the servings were plentiful. We had a delicious roast that was served with a delightful popover, roasted potatoes, and sides of beets, cauliflower & green beans. The dessert was amazing too, Manjari Chocolate Brownie, Morello Cherry Sorbet. _ YUMMY

Conveniently co-located with Chapel Down vineyard. In good weather the patio seating would be excellent. Good food, more than ample servings and great service. The staff were efficient and friendly. Not sure if reservations are necessary, but it would be wise to check. The restaurant was busy. We were on a tour, no responsibilities...

We had a lovely meal celebrating our wedding anniversary, all the staff were lovely and the food was spot on. I would have given 5 starts however, the bread we were given with the oil was very tough, cold bread. Other than that, would 100% recommend to anyone!

2 course for £27.50, 3 course for £30. Menu recommends wine to pair with each meal, but be cautious of if you also have a tasting booked for after.\\nFood is OK - it was good but nothing extraordinary, I thought the restaurant lacked the level of service to match the location and Chapel Down vibe. Everything was so slow, a table near us was dirty from previous guests all throughout our 2 hour lunch!

We arrived before our tour and decided to try our luck at booking a table for later. We were warmly greeted and asked to come back later to see what could be done which we did and were told what time we could be seated that evening. I cannot fault the food or service, Sharon and her team were knowledgeable about the menu giving advice when asked . The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. This was the perfect end to a lovely day. Thank you

We had a table booked for lunch and were seated promptly on arrival by friendly and welcoming staff. We opted to take three courses each, with the highlights including the pork terrine, the smoked salmon pastrami, the cider-glazed pork loin and the stone bass. The burrata starter was the only disappointment really, being possibly the most meager and limp portion I've ever eaten in a restaurant. The wine seemed well-paired and reasonably priced. Nespresso for coffee however was both surprising and disappointing. Service was personable, friendly and prompt although a touch too attentive for my tastes. I could do without the almost constant topping up of half-full wine glasses. That being said the presence of younger people who were obviously learning to serve food was a very welcome addition and it was heartening to see them given an opportunity to learn and thrive in such an establishment. Bravo to those responsible for this. Really good to see. All in all well worth the trip.

Food was great, such a nice lunch and wonderful service from the staff in a nice setting. Tasting some more of the wine from Chapel Down with the meal obviously a bonus! Will definitely make a point of going there again whenever I'm next around.
