A write up in our local paper advised this pub was under new management and having watched the build going on I was interested to see the final result. First things first. I am sure you have to pay for the booking company you use. They are rubbish, I needed to tell them we had an additional option of NOT wanting to bring a dog as this was not an option. I could not place a booking for lunch on a Sunday for more than 6 at lunchtime, 15.30 is not lunchtime. You are wasting your money with this system. You are not big enough to need them, get rid and save money. Following Covid and the resulting staff shortages we were prepared for a mixed reception as we arrived for a full Sunday lunch following a good 6 mile hike with our walking group. I had already read many of the latest reviews and, generally, as there were more positive than bad felt it time to give it a try. All six of us had two course Sunday Roasts and the general consensus was that they were good. The food was very hot and arrived on hot plates which is always appreciated. There was ample quantity hence why none of us could run to a desert this time. I have to add the service was good and attentive and we were checked a number of times to see if we were alright for drinks. These are all things that do not happen elsewhere. There had been a small fire a few weeks back resulting in smoke damage to the soft furnishings hence our metal chairs were a little uncomfortable with no padding, but again not a deal breaker. The ‘optional’ service charge was only 10% again a good call and there was a little charge for the additional gravy jugs but again not a problem (Alex Politzi would be proud in the margin accounting!) In short all of our group would be happy to come back again. I would personally cycle over from Tunbridge Wells to dine here again and pass a number of good pubs on the way. Such is the quality and staffing of this place, good luck going forward.

I had the baby squid as a starter and the paella as the main. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Really recommend to come for food here

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Couldn’t be happier with the service and food. Great asset to the Village.

I have known this pub for over 30 years and I really want it to succeed, but I'm increasingly disappointed by it, over the last few months. The staff are always lovely and a quick brunch is usually good, but my last two visits have been expensive and of a poor quality. A fairly grim Sunday lunch, followed a week later by a very average supper, where my vegetables were barely cooked...... The menu is not broad enough for a village pub, it is getting too expensive and the quality really is not good enough, nor does appeal to enough types of people, families, veggies, .............. where is the pub grub? The affordable, simple food, which a local pub needs to provide, to serve the village..........? Such a shame..........

The lovely serving staff were as friendly and welcoming as ever, but something has happened to the food. It seems there is a new chef, not really on the ball. Mains menu was all fish except for steak and pesto pasta, so not great if you don't eat fish. Most of the fish dishes had meat sauce or flavouring (chorizo in most dishes), so no good for vegetarians. The paella was disaster: nothing like a Spanish paella - no chicken (OK, you can do seafood paella) but far too much chorizo so drowned all other tastes, very liquid (should be dryish), soft rice, no saffron/turmeric; it was just a under-average soggy seafood risotto. Prices are not cheap, so if quality doesn't return, you risk losing the custom you've slowly built up.

My husband and I had lunch here for the first time today. You certainly won't leave hungry, lots of lovely veg. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Molly the owner/manager is lovely and apparently fairly new to the Fleur De Lis. I wish them every success.

Great little pub! I suggest to sit inside and order scallops. Stay away from the octopus, a bit too "rubbery".

Had a late Sunday lunch recently and was disappointed with the roasts. The chicken was off the menu and the beef roast was more like braised steak. Tiny Yorkshire pudding and a small amount of veg - a few tiny roast potatoes, one stick of broccoli and a few savings of parsnip. Not value for money or filling. The ambiance was ruined by 80s music on a tinny sound system. We were hoping that things had improved under the new management (this pub has a frequent churn) but not enough to compete with other pubs in the area selling better food and cosier atmosphere.

and a warming cup of hot chocolate. From the ambiance to the quality of food, every aspect of my experience was exceptionally satisfying. the restaurant's welcoming atmosphere instantly put me at ease. The cozy interior, with its soft lighting and tasteful décor, created a soothing escape from the outside world. The attentive and friendly staff also added to the overall positive experience, making me feel right at home. The restaurant's food is simply outstanding. From the first bite to the last, every dish is a delightful explosion of flavors. The carefully crafted menu offers a variety of mouthwatering options that cater to all tastes. The ingredients are of the highest quality, prepared with precision and finesse. Each plate is beautifully presented, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. It's a truly remarkable dining experience that leaves you craving for more.

A stop for a late lunch and we were surprised at the quality of the food in this small pub. The Hake was very good. Staff were excellent. Well worth dropping in. Parking can be a bit difficult as with a lot of small villages.
