Lovely atmosphere in this family grub pub. Meals were good for the price. Plenty on the plate. Deserts and starters were also very good.Not far away from the sea front where you can take a stroll to work off your dinner. Lol.

Friendly staff. Food typical for chain pub, but good offers making food more affordable for families. Good garden area to sit outside with children and dog. Small play area. Some tables with umbrellas for shade. Will probably come again for a meal whilst on holiday in the area.

Had hardly anything on the menu, waited ages and had repeated trips back and forth as the items on the menu available also changed mid order. Ordered sweetcorn to be told it wasn't available and then another group who came much later and ordered after us had x2 corn cobs each plate. The chicken was dry. Serving staff lovely and helpful but almost nothing that came out was actually what was ordered. Garden is nice for sitting outside and letting the kids have a play. Avoid the food and you will have a lovely time

I hadn't been to this place for years and I was very pleased to see that it hadn't changed.This pub has always offered proper good value for money. There is a vast selection of food on offer, all for a decent price and the portion sizes are massive!!I opted for the Burger sizzler (if I remember correctly) which was a tasty cheese burger with bacon and salad, fries and a corn on the cob...and also another plate with a steak and about five chicken wings with onions and peppers all for about 12 pounds!!!I admit that I was definitely full up after that, but still managed to fit in another pint before leaving!! We will definitely be back when we are round the Swalecliffe area again.

Went there at 6pm on a Saturday and was told there was a half hour wait for food which is fine so we sat in the garden. Over an hour later and with two starving kids still no sign of the food! Go in to ask and were told it's being played, out comes something we didn't even order, ten minutes later two more dishes come out missing items and the dishes looked like they have never been washed! No sign of the other meals sat there a further 10 minutes and nothing! We were only a family of 4 it's not like we ordered a load of food. Ended up handing the bits of food we had back and demanding a refund. Had to resort to McDonald's. Absolutely terrible service never experienced anything like it before they seriously need a management overhaul and to sort their kitchen out. Don't waste your time and money with this place!

Went here today for a meal with my adult grandson. From the moment we arrived there was constant hight pitched screaming from a several mothers with a group of children from St Mary's Primary School. It was relentless, they were running around and just screaming their heads off. At no point did any staff approach them as ask them politely to stop their child's screaming. The mother's also did not ask their children to sit down or keep the noise down. It was a nice day so why on earth they didn't sit in the garden where they could have run around and screamed to their hearys content I don't know. During the meal I needed to take a call and had to go into the garden to hear the person on the other end of the phone. The meal itself was reasonable. My thoughts are if a load of drunken people were making that noise they'd be asked to leave so why not families who cannot control their children? These parents clearly have zero respect for others! Will not be returning.

Haven’t been for a while but heard the Wheatsheaf had improved, friendly helpful staff, clean tables and the food is much better now.

Had the All Day Breakfast and although it filled a hole, a few things would have lifted it up further. The grilled tomato was a raw tomato. I was literally crunching through it. The sausages were ok, forgettable not memorable. Sausages are the star of the show, and maybe a herbed version would taste classier. Again the bacon was average, if the fat was crisped up it would have caramelised the flavour. Hash browns, beans, and mushrooms were fine. The fried eggs had no flavour. There was literally no one else eating there so it was kind of a lonely quiet experience.

Arrived with a party of eight people for lunch today (Sunday) We ordered everyone’s drinks to be then told that the kitchen is 40 minutes late opening and 20 items are not on the menu. Would have been nice to have been told before ordering drinks. Very poor service indeed

Staff were very good and made adjustments for our party which included our dog. Where so many places weren’t dog friendly locally this was a refreshing change. Food was great and served fairly quickly little more I can say about that we would definitely go back if in the area again.

Something has changed.Have been to this restaurant on many occasions never had any problem whatsoever great staff and great food.Must have changed Management.Because this morning we went for breakfast terrible service and terrible cooking .arguing and swearing coming from the kitchen .I had to wait about 35 minutes for my food and wife had to wait about 10 minutes longer then I did .And to make it worse my wife's food was cold.It's not like there was busy there was only 4 people in there (2 couples) waiting for food .

Not the best Hungry Horse I've been too.Booked a table, but had to wait an age to be shown to table, even though we were only ones waiting.A long list of food items not available, including many of the items that come with meals.. eg. Onion rings. And Roast Beef, even though it was only 1pm on a Sunday.For some reason 6 out of 7 got our meals almost together, and the last meal came 7 minutes later.
