So incredibly disappointed. We booked The Royal for my birthday. After getting a drink, 20 minutes passed and noone came to take our order. My partner went to the bar to be told that it will be an 80 to 90 minute wait on starters. This is because there's only 2 people in the kitchen. We chose to leave along with 3 other people. Thankfully The Cross Keys were able to cater for us, at a much more reasonable cost.

We couldn't fault the food which was delicious. However before we'd even sat down at the table which we had reserved we were told that we only had it for 2 hours as it was booked for another couple so we'd have to move when they arrived. The waitress came and put a sign on our table with the name of this other couple even though we still had 30 minutes left before we had to vacate the table. We couldn't relax because of this. We won't be going back again anytime soon.

All the staff were friendly and helpful, and all the items ordered to eat by our party of 7 were excellent quality. The menu is varied and interesting, and apparently changes each month. We have eaten before at the Royal, but usually small numbers, I would definitely recommend it for couples or family groups, it was all lovely thankyou!

We have eaten here on several occasions and the food has always been very good. Decent menu and nice staff. They are dog friendly and there is a large parking area across the road. It was a bit chilly in the dining area on this occasion due to it being a cool day for August. Music was a little loud for one of our party who wears a hearing aid.

Staff welcoming and food came within 10 minutes of ordering, food was lovely and service great. Only fault no one came to ask us if our food was ok, like most places do. Thought at £21 the Sunday roast was a little expensive but was nice!

Polite staff, didn't wait long for food to arrive. Warm plates which is always a bonus for me. Fries very hot.I had the greek style chicken gyros, and it was lovely. My other companions had the pulled pork ciabatta and the vegetarian wrap. All were well presented and value for money.

None of us enjoyed our meals. I had the fish pie which contained 3 prawns and a few pieces of white fish, lots of sauce and soggy pastry. It was served with mashed potato which was very salty and hard! At £17 it certainly wasn't value for money!
