A visit for a birthday treat. Modern building. Food excellent. Menu varied and was difficult to choose. Scallops to start, beautifully pan fried served with perfect accompaniment of black pudding and cauliflower purée. Sea Bass fillet and Fish Trio for mains. Sea Bass served on a bed of superb roasted potatoes with samphire. Fish Trio a combo of lightly battered cod with home made creamy tartare sauce, Sea Bass fillet and a large ramekin of delicious fish pie topped with creamy mash grilled to perfection. Light fresh profiteroles and coffee to finish. Generous portions all round. The care applied to both the menu and the food was very apparent. Staff very professional and efficient. Very reasonably priced given the quality. We will definitely be visiting again, hopefully to eat outside once the weather allows. 11/10

Below average food - and overpriced. We were very disappointed with the food here. Clearly the sauces are from a packet/jar and are tasteless, the steak is overpriced and only comes with a few chips and a partially cooked tomato. Starters completely tasteless. Vegetarian wellington was just a mushroom wrapped in pastry - nothing else inside it to add any flavour. Very poor food on the whole

Beautiful as always! The garlic mushrooms to start, and the profiteroles for dessert were the best I have ever had. The staff are always so friendly!

Tried booking on line no response, took a chance & we drove from Birmingham to Manchester & booked into The Midland Hotel. The Bistro was recommended by friends. My wife tried phoning from Manchester, automated response. I tried phoning an hour later 'NO ANSWER' automated response. "we will call you back" was the recorded message. [Jokers] We decided to drive to the Bistro on the off chance. Still no return phone calls to either of us. One minute away, I received a phone call, which was surprising because I phone nearly an hour after my wife, yet they phoned me first, & not my wife & still no confirmation of booking online. Shocking! Lost a customer, sort yourselves out.

Don't visit if celebrating a special occasion and don't take your own cake. They are the only restaurant I know that charges per head for cutting the cake. They want to charge for every little item, bit of ice cream with sweet rather than cream. No one from my party will go again.

Where do I start? From the moment we walked in I knew we’d made a terrible mistake. There was a very strange, awkward welcome from a young lad who thought he was hilarious by welcoming us in his very best Spanish accent, to the cheap and nasty lightweight cutlery and paper napkins. As we were already there we ordered just starters to test the water. At this point we were told we had to order our main to which I said I didn’t want to. We were then accosted by the same waiter five minutes later insisting we ordered our main. I again said we didn’t want to and we didn’t want to be forced to either. A very strange set up, you want to feel welcomed in a restaurant and this was far from what we were accustomed to. Starters arrived and as predicted were terrible. Rice balls looked like they’d just been defrosted then heated up and the muscles were the smallest we’ve ever encountered. Quite frankly this is probably one the worst restaurants we’ve been to. We sent both back, paid for our wine and made a swift exit.

Yet another excellent night at The Pav, with delish food and friendliest, professional service, always at hand, ready to assist. Ensured we were always happy & nothing too much trouble. Never rushed us & as ever, we had a lovely Christmas Girls night out. Looked after us all night, just as did last time we were there. Thanks for running outside, when I'd left my favourite scarf behind. Excellent night & the whole scene was a Winter Wonderland. Loved It. Jenny & the girls. And the Black Sheep was wonderful. 7Dec.
