The Canal Turn is closed, permanently at the moment. Shame….but wish the website was up-to-date. Never mind, a local pointed us in the direction of The Junction, at The Royal Station Hotel. So, far, it’s good.

I was recently asked to leave the pub by the manager (?) and I was very uncomfortable with the situation. He yelled at me and I feared that he would take my shoes if I went back inside. I'm not sure what I did wrong but I don't want to risk going back in there and being yelled at again. I would not recommend this pub to anyone as it appears the manager has a temper and is not professional.

Came in for a drink and did want food but heard the chef calling the young call names in the kitchen. Not very nice to be speaking to staff like that. Won't be back again if that's how the staff are spoken too.

Very disappointed, had heard good things about the Canal Turn , but those were from the past . We went later on a Sunday afternoon so some things on the menu were unavailable, this is understandable but to run out of chips when most things on the menu were ( or could be ) accompanied by chips seems to be bad planning . The two young ladies running front of house were very friendly and helpfull but kitchen staff seemed to give the impression they would rather not be there . Someone went for frozen chips so food became available . When it came my gammon steak was fine but the chips were only just cooked , another minute or so to crisp them would have helped . A very disappointing visit , we will not be returning in the near future there are plenty of other places in the area

We used the Canal Turn for a pub lunch after a walk and they did us proud. 14 of us enjoyed a varied menu choice which was served hot at the same time. Staff were friendly and helpful Everyone was happy with their meals and I would thoroughly recommend the Canal Turn as a place to eat. Super location too!! Warrington HF Rambling Club

Recently visited this pub. I was greeted by a friendly member of the kitchen staff who looked clean and she was very friendly. She said hello and told us to grab a seat. She said she’d just joined the team so we were feeling apprehensive - anyways she most definitely proved us wrong. We ordered and the food was fantastic, tasty, well presented, lovely and great value for money. Me and my friend left feeling totally satisfied. We will definitely return due to the quality of the food and the kindness from that lovely girl. Many thanks!

My husband, son & I visited the Canal Turn for an evening meal after it was recommended to us by a family member. We regularly stay at a caravan site nearby & like to visit Carnforth town centre so the pub was very handy. The ambience, service & food were all fantastic. We would like to return for lunch during the day another time so we can see the gorgeous canal view by the side of the pub. I imagine it’s wonderful during the summer with the back doors open & that lovely view. We chatted to the local regulars in the pub as well as the staff, everyone was very friendly & welcoming. We will definitely go back!

Took the family out for a meal for my daughters birthday. The food was terrible, arrived cold and undercooked. Could hear the locals discussing how the pub had deteriorated since the new owners had taken over and how current staff hadn’t even been paid. Thus being said the young lad behind the bar was friendly and couldn’t be anymore apologetic for our food.

Very enjoyable. Nice location. Excellent service. Reasonable choice on the menu. Would be happy to revisit.

Service was poor, one person serving behind the bar, and she had no idea how much anything on the menu was, the other was having nothing to do with drinks service by the looks of it....but of an attitude too.Service was, therefore, slow, and it wasn't even busy. You are seriously going to need to up your game.

Been before, I only ordered drinks, lipstick still on a glass, and coffee wasn't very hot, great service though, and would go again, I think it was just one of those things. So I think a 4 star rating is

Have been the canal turn many times and always enjoyed lovely food . We were aware it had been taken over as we visited in June and the menu was limited but still very nice food .we visited again today and the menu was more varied and myself and my husband both had the Philly cheese steak and was absolutely beautiful . Staff were very friendly and helpful and made a big effort to make us and our puppy feel welcome ..will definitely be going back again

Went here today, Sunday of a bank holiday weekend. Ordered glass of wine and was given it in a gin glass. Asked if there were any wine glasses and then I was handed one. Asked for the menu but was told food stopped 20 minutes ago as they had pretty much ran out of everything. Goodness knows what they will do if they have ANY customers on bank holiday Monday. Pub locked up completely at 9pm. What is going on in Carnforth. Pretty grim place if you want a meal on a bank holiday weekend. Will definitely not go again.
