What a brilliant pub! Food is varied, of excellent quality and good portion size. Like the weekday offers and specials. Great selection of beers, really good real ales and craft beers. Staff are welcoming, very obliging and everything is done with a smile. Locals are chatty and friendly. Wish it was my local!!

Fantastic evening celebrating my Dad's birthday! Thank you to Stella, Kieran and the lovely staff who served us, and were very accommodating for gluten free requirements and my Dad's love for pineapple ? Welcoming, cosy atmosphere and delicious food, we'll certainly be back!Dietary restrictions: Allergen menu available including gluten free options

Very good value and food was tasty and plentiful. Service at the bar and the table service also excellent. Surprisingly quiet in the restaurant area for a Friday so stayed I. The area to close to the bar near the fire, which provides a much nicer atmosphere.

Just come home from a really lovely Christmas day meal. We were a table for 4 and were looked after from the minute we walked in. The atmosphere was lovely and inviting, service perfect and the food was excellent. The little touches were really appreciated, a small gift on the table upon arrival, with a Christmas card which detailed our order, (which was really useful because we couldn't remember)! A polaroid picture of us to take home was also a lovely extra touch.Special mention the the people who looked after us:Stella, Kieran, Martin and Mel.Thank you all for making our Christmas, I hope you get to enjoy yours as much as we enjoyed ours.

Had a wonderful Christmas Day lunch. Absolutely lovely service and the food was tasty, hot, cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Thanks to Stella and her team

I'm absolutely not normally one to leave negative reviews for pubs / restaurants as they have a tough enough time as it is, but I'm really left somewhat disheartened by today's experience.Service was slow and inattentive, which given it's the week before Christmas, and despite only having a small handful of tables to serve was very disappointing. We paid £14+ for the steak and ale pie with chips (Weirdly no option for mash?) that turned out to be a slice of pie that looked like it had been sat under the lamps all afternoon. Had it not been for the supplementary gravy boat to moisten the filling I'd otherwise have sent it back to the kitchen.I'm really struggling to understand how both the kitchen and service have got things so wrong today; perhaps it was just a bad day at the office? The building is clean and well kept (a few more Xmas decorations wouldn't go amiss) so it clearly has massive potential, but unfortunately today's experience fell well short of the Sunday dinner we were hoping for. ?I won't say that I'll never go back as I understand that places have off days, but at the same time it's also unlikely we'll be back anytime soon with so many other pubs to try in the area.

A large group of 15 from the Triumph 2000 Register thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas meal at the newly refurbished Halfway House. The food was first class, with ample portions, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was warm and inviting, and perfect for an average sized group. All of those that came to the meal were extremelypleased with the food, its presentation, quality, the good selection of beers and drinks available, and the welcoming surroundings in the pub! Well done Halfway House!!

Enjoyed a meal at the restaurant with my family and was very pleased with the service. Found the staff to be attentive and helpful. It was pleasing to find we weren't being rushed to eat our meal because the table was needed for someone else. Would recommend this restaurant to other customers.Parking: Quite a large car park with ample space for parking.Staff was very helpful when our car broke down and had no issues about the car remaining there until the breakdown service arrived.

We had been to the lake District and fancied some Sunday dinner we came off at Chorley and followed the road until we came across the Halfway houseA nice warm welcome when we entered the pub.Great range of beers and wines. We seated ourselves in the bar area and we had the waitress come take the order for foodSunday dinner was only about twenty minutes and when it came it was to die for. We both had the same the meat was fresh and cooked to perfection. Veg and potatoes were lovely mash and Yorkshire pudding done just right food was great temp and we had gravy and requested more which was greater with not a problem .A lovely place to call into and we would definitely come back and tell our friends it's well worth the visit.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy side and front entrance

I can't say enough good things about this place! I stay at the Travelodge next door for work quite often and I've noticed a massive improvement in the Halfway House. The service has been top-notch, with a warm greeting at the door that I've never experienced before. The staff really know how to take care of their customers, sorting out my food and drinks with ease. Not only did the food come out quickly, but tasted great. They have truly stepped up their game.

Very nice friendly staff, clean and lovely decor, service level good however food disappointing! My soup was served in a very small bowl and looked like coloured water and tasteless. The bread was 2 small slices cut so thin you could see through it. My friend ordered grilled chicken salad, the chicken was so dry she couldn't eat it and wrapped it in her napkin to take home for her dog.Such a shame that a lovely pub has been let down by poor quality food.
