An Historic Inn, with good food a nearby parking, worth a visit. Never stopped there so I cannot comment.

Just went for a bar lunch, a pensioners meal.Best lunch I have tasted for a long time. I ordered roast of the day ,with all the trippings plus a fruit crumble with custard.Delicious, I tasted like how my school dinners were back in the day. Remember when food was real food. The staff were lovely place was clean, beer was refreshing, and my meal, value for money.Food & drinks: Great selection, of food, beers and wines.Spotless, tables, and olde world sort of furnitureAs well as a tribute to Mr Whittle of jet engine fame, back in 1942,with great pictures on wall.

Lovely stay at the pub for a local

A local person recommended this place so we thought it was going to be great. However, this wasn't to be. Fish and chips was greasy and tasteless (basa) and the seafood pie, although piping hot, consisted of a thin layer of mash over a soup of sauce with one prawn, shreds of salmon and one piece of very overcooked smoked haddock.

I was here for a chess match, the place looks nice however when I ordered a VEGGIE burger I found it had BACON on it and didn’t taste that good being honest. The music was a little disturbing while playing chess.Have to give 4 stars instead of 5.Food & drinks: Not too good burgers.
Fantastic experience here!! Trio of Cumberland Sausages was delicious and Michelle was very accommodating with our dietary needs. Service from Ben behind the bar and serving the food was brilliant; a highlight of our trip to Clitheroe. Thanks for everything guys!

Terry runs a fantastic pub which has everything! Good selection of food and drinks, great function room and hotel. I can recommend this as the staff are warm and friendly and genuinely care about their customers! Give it a go…

We were having a short break in Clitheroe and stopped in the Swan and Royal for a meal. The Food and service were excellent and the pub although quiet was welcoming and friendly, would definitely return if in the area.
Reasonably priced and friendly
