When visiting Lancaster we always pop into the Water Witch for a drink. It's well situated on the side of the canal and we can usually be sure of meeting a few friendly dogs (and owners). The bar staff were friendly and helpful during a wintry afternoon after Christmas. The choice of ale wasn't quite what I would like but the festivities had taken their toll. Although not dining, we noted that the food menu has been improved to include a better choice for coeliac guests - well done and please keep it up!

It's a long, quite narrow pub by the side of Lancaster canal, the narrowest section being in front of the bar. All was really good except it was far too hot! Maybe it was just me. It's a brilliant summer pub as there are masses of canal-side picnic benches. No parking is available on site - the nearest car park is a 5 minute walk. Highly recommended!

The Waterwitch is a canal side gastro pub close to the heart of Lancaster. It has a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere that draws you in and encourages you to feel both welcome and relaxed. The menu is diverse with something to appeal to every palate and it is very competitively priced. All of the staff were friendly, courteous, attentive and helpful and the Pub is well run and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and efficiency. All in all my party and I enjoyed a lovely evening with fantastic food in a warm and ambient atmosphere. Loved it +++++++ and we will definitely visit again. Thankyou to everyone ?❤

I met up for lunch with a friend and ordered a tuna mayonnaise sandwich followed by apple and blackberry crumble with custard. The sandwich was very good but the dessert was big enough for three large portions and the crumble had far too much flour in it, far too much for one also the custard had split. Staff asked what the problem was and without hesitation refunded the dessert cost. The area at the end near the toilets was really cold and uninviting. I would go again as I went two years ago and it was very good. Worth another try.

Visited twice this week during business trips. Well advertised specials on certain nights and a good pub quiz on the Thursday. Huge selection of beers with at least 7 hand pulled barrels on tap. Our burgers were OK but the pizza is superb. Very friendly staff and well furnished.

We visited the pub on a Sunday evening to celebrate a birthday with our son who is studying at Lancaster University. The pub was not particularly busy but it still had a really pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent and the staff were all very helpful and attentive. We were especially impressed with their attitude when it came to our son who has a severe peanut allergy. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would certainly eat there again. We would recommend the Waterwitch to anyone looking for good food and great service. Many thanks.

Visited recently on one of their special burger nights (we were only aware of this as we’d checked the website before our visit). On arrival, our menu had no mention of the burger offers and the staff made no mention of it. I went to the bar to ask and was loosely pointed in the direction of some specials sheets that were in a pile on a random table. The two staff members, whilst pleasant enough weren’t very hospitable or overly eager to serve/advise. When the burgers arrived they were a little smaller than expected but were very tasty and we did all enjoy our food. It was by no means a terrible visit but a warmer and more helpful greeting from staff would have gone a long way.

I visited the Waterwitch tonight with my sister and brother in law and have had the most amazing meal. Two of us had the pie which was absolutely huge and totally delicious. We needed a gluten free meal and there was a great choice and the fish and chips was again a massive portion and tasty. I had the lamb shank which melted in the mouth. So dog friendly as well. We also enjoyed some really lovely red wine which was really good value for money. All in all a great night- highly recommended

Stopped off here for Sunday lunch. A lovely location overlooking the river! The beef dinner was delicious and an excellent sized portion. One of the nicest Sunday dinners I have had.

Excellent pub by the canal in Lancaster. Lots of character. We booked table for 4. We ended up being 6. No problem. Good selection of local craft beers and the seafood platter to share was a pleasant surprise, both quality and price. I'll go back again anytime I'm in the area.

Fantastic food, mussels especially good. Great service, lovely pub atmosphere, and the selection of beers and wine is broad, so plenty of choice
