Been to most country style pubs in merseyside for food and truthfully the ship in lathom beats any for food,service and location and the food is way ahead of any miller and carter style places.in the few years I've been going there the standard has never dropped.

Lovely country pub, large car park opposite. Really nice inside, various rooms to eat in, dogs allowed in boot room, cosy with fires lit in colder months. We had Halloumi burgers with chips and coleslaw which was very good.Staff pleasant and attentive, would definitely visit

I liked this canal side pub. Good choice of well kept ales in pleasantplace. Food was available but did not indulge.

Well first of all its location is quite a surprise by the Leeds Liverpool canal. I first came here in 1993 and had their then famous fish and chips which were very good. The old place since has had a gentle renovation and I was hoping the fish and chips, by the way do an excellent menu besides this, were as good as then. Just had lunch there and the old stand by is even better. The lunch time was very busy and the staff calmly deal with it with quiet efficiency. Most enjoyable!
