There is no HOPE of a pleasant experience in this place ever, as long as they have such staff. This is the first time I have had such a horrid experience of a stay at Marriott property... Leicester Marriott Hotel... Where do I even begin... My primary purpose of visit : my son securing an admission in University of Warwick, Coventry. Then why choose to stay so far from Coventry – all the way in Leicester ? Because, unfortunately, I read more favorable reviews of this place, and it being about 45mins drive, I still selected it. But boy oh boy ! I have been – alas – misled. Also to let you know, my wife suffers from a heart condition. We are already very disheartened that we are having to leave our son in a new country for four years for his education, but seems that you think that is not enough... So Marriott team was eager - why not pour in some more sorrow onto us ?! The moment we checked in, we were allotted Room No. 349... On arrival, there were dead mosquitoes near the window area. A bit annoying, but we ignored. I get into the shower, the shower pump does not work, getting more annoying now. Called for another shower can, which was delivered and the lady who delivered it assured us that the housekeeping will have it fixed during the day. That said and done - we left for the day... and when we were back – Boom ! No housekeep was done to our room ! And no – we did not have any “Privacy Please” hung up on our room! Further, another very annoying fact was, the tap in the bathroom – kept leaking and the water kept falling regularly towards the bathroom door, creating risk on us slipping inside in the bathroom. We were offered a room change. (Do remember it took us almost an hour to pack-up, and then un-pack time again). Next was Room No. 357... having many flies in the room. This was brought to the notice at the front desk, and they said the housekeeping will look into it. Nothing happened. Marriott team - have you suffered a tiring day, and get to bed, only to be bothered by a fly buzzing next to your ear or sitting down on your cheek or nose while you were asleep? Do you think you would wake up with a satisfied sleep after a long exhausting and tiring day (and also a low feeling day – because our son has moved to his accommodation in his university and is no longer with us) ? Apart from this, it is also important to note, that the housekeeping was not done proper – no sanitary bag, no hot chocolate powder and the tea was not refurbished. What happened then ? We were offered a series of apologies by Mr. Jem and a room change. (Do remember it took us almost an hour to pack-up, and then un-pack time again). Next was Room No. 510... after having assurance that the room is checked and perfect for a shift, we moved in here... unpacked... and as we were doing the same, realized it is getting hot ! Looking at the side of the wall (outside of the bathroom, where you have the aircon controller), we realized that the aircon lights were off... Called up the reception again, and Ms. Oana said she will have a check asap. Then called us back to confirm that indeed the room aircon supply is cut-off due to some maintenance. There we go... What happened - We were offered a series of apologies and a room change. (Do remember it took us almost an hour to pack-up, and then un-pack time again). Next was Room No. 511... after personal assurance of Ms. Oana, that the room double checked and free from any issue, we shifted to this room. Do note, that all our room changes happen in the evening once we are back from a long tiring day. After unpacking in this room, we noticed that the chiller/cooler in the room, was not working correctly (it worked fine in all the other rooms – we know its not working fine in this room)... Also the safe was left locked by the previous guests in the room or by the housekeeping staff. Brought this to immediate notice of Ms. Oana same night. She confirmed that she will have the maintenance team look into this on priority the next day morning. She also asked for the timing when they could come over to have a look. We

Pros good location and parking. Cons staff not welcoming on reception or bar. Was given the wrong room causing us delays and no effort notice on our booking under special requests. For the price we expected better.

Sad to see these reviews regarding the hotel. It is my first time staying here and we all enjoyed ourselves. We queued for a little at the bar, but it was busy so to be expected (others were complaining), it feels as though the customer’s attitude were far worse than any of the staff, who thanked us for our patience and compliance (in particular the tall gentleman with the mullet type haircut - wish i had gotten his name as he was fantastic). One person in particular, Avtar, I cannot fault. Her attitude towards the job was second-to-none, happy to help us if we needed anything accompanied by a good level of humour, she made us feel right at home. Hope her manager’s know what an asset she is to the team!

Over-priced, (then paid extra for parking), dirty crockery, just one plug in room not near bed where needed, car charging does not work (not even available), no water in room, poor reception staff, 20 minutes just to check in, internet access difficult.

£5.00 for a pint of Pepsi out of a pump !!! Probably the most expensive soft drink ive had. Even more ridiculous that its the same price as a bottle of beer and given the fact that the pepsi was 40% ice its actually cheaper to get drunk than not!!!!

I left my coat at the hotel during a stay earlier in the year. I contacted on multiple occasions but with no response either from messages left for housekeeping or to emails. I then found a complaints email who finally got a response from them after 2 attempts. They said that they no longer had it as it had been over 3 months. However if they had actually got back to me when I asked it would have been there. I have now contacted twice more to ask for a refund or some kind of compensation for the fact that they got rid of my coat while I was trying to get it back. But have had no response.

The hotel its self was very clean and beautiful. However, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the fridge in the room didn’t get cold (kept the water at tap water temperature), the TV didn’t work at all and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work either. All of this was mentioned to reception and they advised they would sort these issues. However never showed up.

Hotel is a bit noisy but convenient for my office next door however today I tried to book on our corporate rate and they said not available and the room rate is over £300 for one night! £99 with breakfast is fair - shame on you! Won’t return

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times for business over the last few years without any issue however this stay was disappointing. As I have Platinum level with Marriott Rewards, I was given an upgrade to executive room with lounge access as usual which is nice. When I went to breakfast I was informed that my free breakfast due to platinum level could only be eaten in the lounge. Not a big deal unless you have colleagues also staying at the hotel who don't have access. The lounge breakfast is only a cold buffet with scrambled eggs. The upgrade should be a bonus but in this case I would have been better not having lounge access. I asked to pay for to upgrade to a "standard" breakfast and was asked to pay the full amount + 4 pounds extra due to me not pre booking. (the extra 4 pounds was waived in the end but still paid normal price) The free extras are for loyalty of staying many nights at a Marriott hotel so do not "reward" the guest with a more basic breakfast option. The car park is now 7 pounds overnight which is not much but it was previously free every time I stayed. The bathrooms also are in due of an upgrade. A modern bathroom with a walk in shower would make a world of difference to customer experience. All in all it is still an ok hotel however the breakfast policy for bonvoy members needs to be looked at. I may look for an alternative for future trips.

Since COVID the Hotel has gone down hill … No swimming pool now - shame - however the biggest decline has been the level and manner of service - I’ve used the Hotel during my trips to Leicester for the past 6 years and as a long standing Bonvoy member I looked forward to my stays at the Marriott and used to think in room dining was a treat - However a barely warm expensive and underdone steak with no ketchup or salt (a completely empty salt cellar was provided) means no future demand from me - Also no Hotel /Local info or Room Service Menus provided - Scanning with a smart phone a qr code from a card is required to obtain the info - This simply discriminates against older people - All very well for reception to blandly tell you that ‘This is the way of the future’….Well the ‘way of the future’ is perhaps for me a different Hotel ! - The Car Parking charges are also now too expensive being £6.00 a night for guests ….Also a long standing problem which despite many requests over the years is the lack of Electric socket points in the rooms - Just one - which means I have to choose between which item I can recharge at night - Oh - Also one lift out of order during my stay

Increadibly long wait, staff were rude and rather pricy. I'd recommend you look outside of the hotel in the morning.

The lounge of the Marriott hotel is the perfect place to meet, it’s spacious the interior design and furniture are modern and comfortable. The service was fast and the coffee good. A great place to unwind and meet.
