Very disappointing. Not a "village pub" anymore, only merely a restaurant. Its lovely if you want to eat as well, but drinkers only.... forget it. We have been coming here for years and slowly they have reduced the only bar area to accompany the restaurant too. Each time we have walked in for a drink the only bar tables (and it is a small bar area) are now completely set up with cutlery and "reserved" for diners. Sorry but you have to think about the locals who just want a drink, not just rely on drinking custom only in the summer as they can sit outside. If that's the attitude of this pub towards locals, then my attitude is to vote with my feet. No thanks.

Great place to go if you have a dog. Staff were pleasant. Latte was warm and the burger too.

Decided on having dinner as a family of 4 last minute, a quick google, saw the menu and decided on The Waterside Inn.Friendly welcome on arrival, had some large bookings in for later but stillManaged to seat us.Drinks service was quick and the food menu had enough variety for several somethings for everyone!Food arrived in good time, hot and together. A really pleasant meal and all left very satisfied!Shared some desserts which were again really good.We went at 5pm so it was a little quiet but the r great food and service made up for the atmosphere, I am sure at busier times it’s buzzing! Will definitely be going back!

We ate at the waterside for our friends Birthday. Booked the table in advance. Upon arrival the staff greeted us and showed us to our table, very friendly and asked if we wanted to order drinks which we did, the server asked if we were ready to order, The menu is extensive, we had already chosen online and wanted to try Their famous Carvery, one vegetarian with sweet potato pie and vegetarian gravy, one standard and one large meat carvery. The chef was very friendly and chatty, we all said we have never seen a carvery where everything looked perfect. The meat we had was Beef and Turkey we didn't try the Gammon, I paid the couple of pounds more for extra meat and extra Yorkshire pud. Roast potatoes, Cheese and plain mash, carrots, Broccoli, cauliflower cheese, leeks, peas, Parsnips, Stuffing balls.Gravy, condiments. The meats melted in your mouth and all the veg was cooked to perfection, no rock hard and none overdone.Yorkshire's and stuffing were both delicious. The staff were very attentive checking everything was good.Without a doubt I would say it was the best quality carvery I have ever eaten, we all rated it very highly. The server took away the plates and asked if we wanted the desert menu, we had one between my wife and I, Lemon meringue roulade and our friend had cherry Bakewell pudding and they both were delicious. From what we witnessed today the pub is very busy, I would recommend booking and if you are ok eating early the pub opens at 12, we were first In and within minutes it was quite full.I can't praise The waterside enough, Great friendly and attentive staff, Excellent Food, lovely ambience and a great setting for summer outside by the river and locks.Thank you all so much for a lovely meal for our friends Birthday. We will be seeing you again soon.Vegetarian options: The Pub ask about dietary requirements, our friend is vegetarian and she had the Veggie carvery, we didn't look what else is available this time.Parking: Over spill carparking.Wheelchair accessibility: The floors are all one level and shouldn't have any problems with a wheelchair.

Came here for the carvery and they did not disappoint. The service was really good and very prompt and the food was tasty and fresh. The only downside is that the car park was really full, and there is no option of parking elsewhere if this is the case. Maybe the flooding on the nearby roads added to this issue.

Thank you Archie and all of the lovely team that made us so welcome last night! Customer service experience was first class and so lovely to experience such a fab evening dining in my own village! This pub has improved so much over the years and the menu was diverse! My friend and I ate good food and drank a fab glass or two of a lovely Malbec. Thank you to you all, top team and my friend who came over from the west mids for the evening thanks you too! We were very impressed. See you again soon

Met up for a family meet up meal after google search on somewhere halfway for both parties. So after travelling 35 miles we were really happy to see our venue-a lovely pub/restaurant in a lovely village by the river/canal (it was dark so not sure which). The car park was rammed giving us confidence we’d discovered a popular good food venue. The food was absolutely outstanding-no complaints there. The service was excellent …..to a point then then it became feeling pressurised into ordering-despite being 20mins early and waiting for the other part of the family to join us, which was explained 3 times, we were asked 3 times in 20 mins “were we ready to order” - am I just being picky? As the food was so good I wouldn’t have usually mentioned this other than later, when all courses were finished, coffee and another round of drinks ordered because we wanted to relax and finish the night off chatting cos it’l probably be another 12 months before we get together again - we were asked repeatedly if we were ready for the bill with someone constantly hovering by our table to take payment. Ok so time was ticking on but it was only round about 10.30 and we were the last table to leave but I didnt realise they had a kicking out time……or do they?….and this is the only reason I mention it because it made us feel uncomfortable…..real shame because other than that the waiting staff were friendly and the food was gorgeous.
