Oh dear, slightly disappointed that I'm having to write this, as we have been going here at least once a week for a good few years, but for the last few months we have found the carvery to be declining immensely. Went last night, as always like to give the benefit of doubt, and places do have off days, but once again the carvery was quite frankly awful, burnt hard roast potatoes barely cooked chunks of carrots, broccoli and cauliflower cheese that was turning to mush, and the usually very nice melt in the mouth Yorkshire puddings were like frisbees, the place was empty, and in the whole hour we were there nobody went up for a carvery, I dread to think how long it had been sat there before I went up for mine, it was barely warm, I did however, for the first time in my life, mention how disappointed I was, I didn't want a refund, as I feel this place needs the custom at the minute, but it really needs to get back to how brilliant it used to be, the other meals my family had were all rather lovely, which makes it difficult to understand how the carvery has gone so downhill, also very understaffed, 2 girls on and they were really lovely and polite. I do hope this place sorts itself out soon, we will continue to return here, but I will stick to the main menu.

Came in to chill with a friend but got stressed instead by two very impatient and snappy staff members. Food was so so, unlike what it used to be. Only one staff member was genuinely nice and polite to us.

Absolutely vile! Food as dry as the dessert! The young staff were properly rude and arrogant! I pressed the tip button on the card reader as I was paying and the young ignorant guy got annoyed and cancelled it until he realised I was actually trying to make a tip? I was then told we were being too loud and that this was a family pub? It was 21:00 and the pub was dead! The nearest people were at the other side of the pub and still complained! We could hear them not having fun or laughing yet wr didn't complain about them. I didn't realise you were not allowed to have fun let alone have a laugh! I can only guess the management were very sad and very morbid! This is the first review I have ever done. I promise you please do not go! Just find somewhere better a few miles away. Very poor food and even poorer service. Worst pub I have been in in 30 years. Ages 47 now. Well over a fiver a pint on most lager. I can't believe I am saying I wish I had gone to weatherspoons instead. If you have any kind of intelligence you will avoid. Kind regards Steve.

My family and I were delighted with the food and service received here, right from the front door greeting to the bar, table and mid-meal check, the staff did their upmost to make sure we were happy and catered for, I'm impressed. The food was great, especially the carvery and the kids got a good size portion too. This was all midafternoon on new years eve so the pressure was on for the staff but despite not having a booking they squeezed us in and our stay was relaxed, comfortable and friendly. We will be backKid-friendliness: Very kid friendly!

Very poor bar service from staff with equally poor manners and not at all helpful when voicing concerns over poor heating in our area. We've been having a family annual Christmas lunch at the Elms for a few years now,we will not be going back. Private detailed e-mail sent.

Very slow serviceThis was all preordered and paid for several weeks ago. Therefore unable to understand why Numerous items missing from the starters and puddings. The carvery was very poor, the vegetables were either burnt or not cooked. The meat was very fatty. As a large party we have been for several years. We are very disappointed. The manager gave us £30 of vouchers to use at the restaurant which is pointless as we won’t be returning.Very saddened as this ruined our Boxing Day

From initial greeting and seating by Lisa to paying for our meal and everything in between me and my party were all very satisfied with the professional service and quality of food eaten. Stacy went out of her way to ensure I was happy - she runs that whole floor superbly. I would appreciate if my feedback actually reached Stacy and her staff. I have worked in the trade all my life so am very familiar with what sacrifices they all had to make over the festive period. Only slight teeny tiny negative was the coffee machine was out of order and half of my party don’t drink alcohol so would have loved to drink coffee. This however did not detract from our overall experience- massive thanks to all involved in the day and I repeat special thanks to Stacy.

The staff were super friendly and could not have done any more to accomodate us food wise, drinks wise and generally for our whole visit. The food was lovely and very good value for money. We did have one complaint about a drink that had bits in it, but this was taken to the bar and rectified immediately. A lovey visit

We all felt that the restaurant was cold. Not only that, but the food was also cold. Some of the staff are pleasant enough but not all. A couple of them were frankly quite miserable. It also seemed to me that they were short staffed. The carvery is ok but nothing to shout about. The plates are so small that if you have a Yorkshire pudding it occupies a large proportion of the plate. You then witness customers constructing a mash potato mountain which forms the base to “plant” roast potatoes in it amongst other things. The guy that carves the meat should be employed in Astro physics because he can carve meat so incredibly thin that I thought only precision machinery could slice to such tolerances. This resulted in the meat crumbling and him asking “ are you ok with the bits?”. I understand that you can go back to the carvery for more vegetables if you want them. Perhaps people should be reminded of this to avoid items rolling off the plate onto the floor and making the carvery area more of an obstacle course. That however is more of a reflection of some customers.

Boxing day dinner was appalling. Roast potatoes were rock hard, carrots disgusting and slimy, Brussels hardly cooked. Waited half hour for desert. No coffee. Waitress apologised twice for the wait. Never go here again.

We went for Christmas dinner with my godmother and her husband. I took with me My husband and brother-in-law and we had a great time. It was an excellent environment and Lisa took good care of us. And we look forward to going back in the summer. Ps look at the cakes they look amazing.

Our family of 12. On first arrival we were told that some of the starters had sold out We had been into the restaurant 4 weeks ago to book all our meals and pay all the bill. The carvery….. well where do we start. The gammon was full of thick fat, the parsnips, roast potatoes were burnt and unedible. Pigs in blankets uncooked. Peas not cooked… hard. Desserts…. Told that one of the choices picked was not available. Considering this was ALL booked and paid for 4 weeks ago it is utterly disgusting. The service was extremely slow, not enough staff. When we complained, we were offered £40 in vouchers. This is awful…. £40 between 12 of us when we had spent £260 in advance. We will not be using the vouchers as we will not be back, which is sad as we have been coming here for the last few years At Christmas.

We have had a fabulous start to our Christmas celebration's, We were a large party of 16 on Christmas Eve and we had the nicest meal, service and atmosphere that we could possibly have. The food portions were perfect and everything came out on time and was delicious. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas all

Appalling, booked for 15, table set for 14, as large table we were asked to pre book meals, 12 carveries plus 3 other meals. We are all armed forces veterans but were told we couldn't use our discount card as we had pre booked and were on the same table, they asked us to pre book! 12 carveries were eaten and the other 3 meals still had not arrived, we had to chase up and were told 10 minutes so they obviously forgot about them and it was longer. Will not go back

Food, carvery, was excellent. The service was a little lacking could have been better and the staff seemed moody.
