I've been ordering from Abbey cottage for years and the meals have been lovely. But sadly the last two times the meals haven't been the usual standard. This time I ordered the chicken chow mein and chips. The chow mein was dry didn't seem to have any sauce. It used to. The chicken pieces were tiny, and all I could taste was the onion. It didn't seem to be very warm.

Either really good or terrible, more likely the latter. Seems to be a problem with re-heating old food. Chips often stale and tofu slimy. The same dishes are different every time you order, so it's total chance every time.Front of house are friendly and accommodating, if, again, inconsistent with with their estimated pick-up times. Place generally lacks quality control.Vegetarian options: Plenty of options, accomodating staff, but lack of quality controls presents concerns around what is done behind the scenes.

Places our order at 12 pm for a scheduled delivery, food arrived steaming hot! Tastes very authentic and freshly made. No complaints at all especially for Christmas

I've been here a few times and started off good. But each time we order the food seems to get worse or is cold. Also because they don't use sealed tubs we've had the sauce of a meat dish go into a veggie dish. When I explained this to the restaurant on another order and asked to make sure they were sealed properly I just got told "never heard of that happening" but it's happened several times. To top it off I've ordered vegetable spring rolls and there's definitely some questionable meat in there, they are not like the others I've had.Vegetarian options: Food is not sealed properly so you will get sauce from a meat dish into your veggie dish

We normally love our takeaways from Abbey Cottage, but unfortunately we had terrible food and service this evening. We made our order 18.45 and food arrived at 20.50, 35 mins later than expected. We rang the restaurant at 20.30 and they explained that there was an error in their food delivery and they were missing ingredients, hence why the food was delayed. However when the food eventually arrived it was freezing cold, which was extremely disappointing.

Not one dish ordered was edible. Absolutely horrific, save your money and either go elsewhere or have smart price beans on stale bread, because it's likely more palatable!!!It has gone back to the restaurant, the sheer arrogance of the person collecting, unnecessary and unhelpful!

it was so rubbish i had a sweet and sour it was just a handful of small vegtables swimming and sauce the tofu here is really bad aswell it a tiny peace of tofu with to much batter around it swimming in oil the noodels were also just as bad they were coverd in oil with no taste. all together the entier meal was disugsting and left me feeling sick.

Worst chinese food i have eaten. It taste burnt The chicken was dry and clearly had burnt bits and had an overall odd taste to it. I didnt have seconds, which has never happened !

Ordered a takeaway tonight and I can honestly say it was awful. No flavour, it wasn’t hot, chips rock hard and cold. Ordered an £80 plus order and all dishes was not satisfactory. Each dish had a fault. I will not be ordering from them again. Awful!

I’m gluten free. After reading the other reviews I’m not sure how good they are for cross contamination but I ate here last night and had no problems! I am just intolerant though… not coeliac…

Literally one of the worst takeaways I've had, hate to be that guy aswel.The ribs were soggy and swimming in oil, and the chow mein was dryer than the Sahara desert. One extreme to the other.Will not be coming back unfortunately
