Cannot fault the food or service, lack of photos due to just enjoying our meal. The cod was amazing & as for dessert, the garnish of liquorice sorbet was out of this world. I don't like liquorice or sorbet, but this was amazing. The extra birthday treat from Ascoughs was delicious. Will certainly be back! Fantastic

The overall experience was positive. However, although we booked a table 2 weeks in advance over the phone, when we arrived they couldn't find the reservation and we were made to wait about 10mins until a table got set for us. The staff tried their best, but it felt there were long gaps of waiting between starters, main meals and desertsLuckily 4 of us had a lot to talk about and waiting wasn't too bad. Apart from that, the food and drinks quality, presentation and taste were great and scrumptious!

Excellent lunch meal - we had a family visit & there was enough choice to cater for vegetarians, coeliacs & fussy teenagers. Food was delicious & service good although maybe a little slow at times but the restaurant was busy & we weren’t in a rush. Definitely recommend. My only comment is please get some oat/soya milk for those of us who prefer this.

Six of us went for dinner for a birthday bash and all I can say is that we were not disappointed in any way at all. The food and service were the tops and the staff efficient,friendly and working their socks off on a busy Saturday night. Well done Ascoughs.

Food excellent as always ,but service standards not up to the level we have experienced on previous occasions. We have used this restaurant many times and always enjoyed the quality of food and great service ,and have recommended to many others as well. On this occasion no staff were assigned to any tables which led to longer waiting times and having to try and attract attention for service. I might be being picky as the staff were working, but it seemed not in the usual organised way. I just wanted to give this feedback as this is a special place and we will be back.

Amazing meal and very good value for money. The service was prompt and friendly with good menu suggestions made the staff ensuring that drinks were always available and more than worth the service charge.The quality of the food was superb with all 3 courses being an excellent, my steak was cooked perfectly with so much flavour and the Tiramisu ice cream being a nice way to finish the meal.

Reading the reviews, I had high expectations of Ascough’s. Me and my partner went for my partners birthday meal and came out feeling very disappointed. The food was average but expensive. We ordered dessert and waited 40 minutes until we asked where it was, to be told that the waiter hadn’t put it through. With it being soufflé I had ordered, we were told it would be another 15 minutes. They did ask if we wanted another dessert on the house but I was set on the soufflé and 55 minutes for a dessert just isn’t worth it, so we left. Pleasant atmosphere but let down by inattentive staff sadly

Average food but overpriced. Very unfriendly unhelpful staff, didnt like our table and made that very clear.Not a good night out at all. Maybe ok for an older quiet couple. Oh, and dont ask for anything because they say your table was rude!
