We wanted to try somewhere different for an evening meal, and this pub came up. There was a nice atmosphere with locals enjoying a Friday evening drink and get-together. A simple food menu but we decided to try one of the pies on offer - the steak and stilton. It was delicious! I had mash instead of chips, which was great. Staying local for a few days and went to the Blue Lion for quick eats and a beer. This is not a pretentious pub like some but like pubs used to be. Good beer and a decent menu serving proper pub food. And here’s the best bit, not a rip off. Reasonable prices and food nice and hot, what more could you wish for. By getting the pricing right people will return, simple really and a mystery why so many places don’t get it. Well done Blue Lion.

Very nice. Locals friendly, staff professional and welcoming. Beer was excellent and wine good. Proper locals pub and menu looked tempting and not over gentrified which is rare nowadays. Some people still want a pub,not a restaurant and this is exactly that. Will be back on a regular basis. Well done.
