Food is good and the price is reasonable. However, we were recently told that a 10% surcharge will now be added to the bill if you stay longer than 2 hrs! Apparently, according to the staff/owner, this is common place in hospitality. My friend and I always buy food and drinks and sometimes haven’t met for a couple of weeks (we have lots to catch up on) so on most occasions we can be there over 2 hrs. If the cafe was ever full and the table was needed we would absolutely respect this and leave but it never has been whilst we have been in!! Unfortunately, this made my friend and I feel unwelcome and it’s not the first time remarks have been made about how long we were there. Considering how hard it is keeping hospitality businesses open I am astounded by this move. If we were nursing one drink each for the whole time I could understand but that is not the case. There are many more cafes to frequent in Grantham which is exactly what we now intend to do.

We had a lovely Christmas afternoon tea at Petticoats and they had a vintage singer performing too which was a bonus. The food was lovely and we had unlimited tea and coffee. The price was so reasonable we wanted to pay extra! Thank you.

Took my husband here today after visiting Belton House as a birthday treat. We had afternoon tea it was the best we have ever had. And the tea room is delightful and playing perfect old time music. You must visit if you are in the area. Thank you all for a perfect experience ❤

Not a barista to be seen! What you get is a nod to nostalgia and lovely food, great service and offering very good value. Have vowed to go more often to support small independent businesses such as this.

Afternoon tea for 2 - £33 I was brought gift vouchers for Afternoon tea for my 50th birthday last year. Due to time, I didn't get around to going and asked if I could collect a take away yesterday the 1.11 . This was all fine and I collected at 11 as agreed. Well.. what a disappointment ?. The value of my vouchers was £33 and what I recieved for this money was terrible, I was so disappointed. The ham in the sandwiches was plastic pretend ham, plastic cheese! The egg and tuna was good though, I enjoyed them. The scones where awful, tasted doughy and sticky, not like a scone should be, couldn't eat them, in the bin they went. The cakes for 2 people to share, weren't that nice either. The carrot cake was delicious the lemon cake obviously brought from morrisons was nice, but the other 2 velvet and god knows what it was, was terrible as well.. no taste and no flavour. I feel my friends wasted their money!

I arrived rather late for lunch. i was told that they had stopped serving food, then she said actually we're quite quiet, what would you like, and lovely lunch and coffee soon arrived. I paid and left in a hurry to meet up with friends, and later realized I'd left a bag behind. when I phoned the lovely lady arranged to drop it at the hotel where I was staying, several miles away. Brilliant service and good food.

Food is not only lovely with good portion sizes but presentation is good also. Afternoon tea and cakes is a must. Nice quiet setting where you relax whilst eating the fare. Outside catering for functions also available.

I agree with the comments made before about afternoon tea not being anything special and overpriced, as did many other members of our party. What I'm more shocked about is reading the responses to your bad reviews. Everything seems to be the customers fault or 'personal preference'. Reviews are left to help communicate what your customers feel could be done better and a good business should acknowledge these and take them on board. So here's my review - I've had better afternoon tea elsewhere for cheaper. However, the young waitress with dark hair provided excellent customer service.
