“First time visitors to the area and were recommended Blue Bell in Belchford. Very quaint traditional and looks unassuming from outside. However the menu was really interesting and quality of home cooked food was first class. We had local version sausages and home made fish pie, absolutely on the money. Also the prices were surprisingly good for the quality of food. Would certainly recommend it is worth a detour. A tradional Wold pub that serves top food.”

“We try to visit whenever passing through the town. Amazing thatched building on the high street. Mind the low ceilings :) Cosy, clean interior with lots of nice beer and pub related items like pump clips and beer mats decorating the bar area. Always seems friendly and good range of Batemans ales on the bar. Enclosed beer garden to the rear. We didn't have food but the pie based menu looks like great value with a filling and level of sides to suit all appetites. Toilets spotless on a daytime visit.”

“Had a lovely, relaxed meal here during storm Babet. Service was friendly and efficient; the food was excellent; and reasonably priced. Decided to take the desert home as the weather was worsening. No problem. Looking forward to visiting again soon.”

“Had a nice meal and dessert here today with family only let down as other people said is the toilets in particular the gents, mould on the skylight the urinals smell and there was an old fly trap with dead flies on in here. All it needs is a good scrub/clean with bleach and plenty of air freshener or an open window etc would sort it, just some time and effort which is a shame. It's a lovely nice old pub”
