Fascinating view of marina .. with Swans and students! Food better than most hotels .. very attentive staff.

We had booked a king size room with a view of the wharf. Altogether the room had everything you would need for a hotel stay (hair dryer, safe, etc… not sure why there was a broken set of scales in the wardrobe though?!?) The Bathroom door had at some point been the brunt of another room occupant’s temper as it had a poorly repaired fist shaped hole in it. Maybe they had got irritated at the stains ‘of an unknown origin’ on the bedside lampshades or the cheap ply half used toilet roll which had also not escaped being ‘stained’ a bright urine yellow. The toilet wasn’t even clean. Our room had an adjoining door. We didn’t give it much thought until we heard the arrival of its occupant who could be heard as if in the room with us, on his telephone, making his plans to get ‘fing f’d up tonight’ before continuing his libations back in his room. We were not waiting around to hear him return later so we made our escape…

We were warmly greeted on arrival and parked up with no problem. When we reached the room it was clean and tidy with all the usual 'extras' The bathroom was spotless with a powerful shower. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had good air conditioning. The view from our window (second floor) overlooked the wharf. A minor niggle was our view of the wharf was obstructed by a substantial tree. Next time we'll request a higher floor. Breakfast was superb and compliments to Trudie who along with her staff, looked after us well. The breakfast selection was one of the best we've ever had. The bar area was very airy and very clean. We had a few drinks there and all was OK. We shall certainly stay here again when we next visit Lincoln.

Well situated on Brayford Wharf, so a great view. Rooms are okay, however there was a whiff in the room/corridor which was a bit off putting. Also during weekdays breakfast is only served until 09:30, I’m sure it says it somewhere but it’s too early. There were three separate people trying at 09:40. So for £209.00 overall average and no more.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Room was clean but for the price we paid expected more. In our opinion it is overpriced but under par. No safe, no drawers for clothes. 4 hangers on a rail in an alcove and no fridge. The mattress was sub hotel standard. Not at all comfortable - creaky and thin. When we highlighted the above to reception we were told it was because we were in a standard room . If we had booked a premier room we would have had all of the above. I would have thought a decent mattress, drawers to put clothes in and a precautionary safe is standard for any decent hotel.

Stay was wonderful. The staff were very accommodating and friendly throughout our stay. Breakfast was good nothing I would shout about, we did end up eating out the second day but I’m not mad at that. The atmosphere of the brayford at night is very magical, I imagine even better at Christmas. The room we was in was amazing however our friends room was outdated and didn’t match how lovely the rest of the hotel was. One thing I will say is on our first night our friends who came back after us found a member of staff passed out drunk in the corridor. The same member of staff who had served us that evening!!!!! This didn’t ruin our stay and I am all for fun but it did make me question the professionalism of the hotel. A shame. Ordoe I will be back for Christmas and I will be bringing my children.

Picked by chance a week before on Booking.com. Price went up in the minutes we were choosing, but as it was a BH weekend, we expected it. Lovely friendly receptionist and bar staff, too. Nice relaxed atmosphere all around the hotel. We gad a room overlooking the Wharf, lovely view. Slept like a log! Lots of eating places along this area.

I’ve stayed in a lot of Holiday Inns, and this is not one of the best. On the negative side, the room was a bit ropey. Wheelchair-friendly, which was fine, but perhaps because of the design and cleaning shortcuts, the bathroom smelled damp and mouldy. A missing lightbulb, biscuit wrapper left on the floor, and complete absence of any power sockets near the bed, also smack of low standards and a poorly designed room. On the plus side, a convenient central location and on-site car park. Breakfast was ok, with a good view from the dining room over Brayford Pool. It passed the sausage-marmalade-and-marmite test: Marmite available, plenty of proper marmalade, and the sausages were good quality (so often hotels provide cheap and nasty sausages in the breakfast buffet). So there you are: an ok hotel, but I wasn’t very impressed by the bedroom.

Parked easily and went to check in. Check in was slow but we were greeted as platinum elite members. Went up to the room. Opened door and a disgusting smell hit us, like a damp smell. The mattresses on both beds were very soft and not to my liking. The carpet was soaking wet under the air con unit. We didn’t bother to complain as we were already told that they were fully booked. We had been there about an hour and a maintenance guy knocked on the door to say that we were being moved as we should never have been put in this room. Amazing. We moved a few doors down. No smell this time and nice firm mattresses. The carpet needed replacing and was heavily stained in one part. Bathroom was ok but the door needed replacing or a good lock of paint. Mildew on ceiling above shower. Slept ok but not the best. Had a lunch snack the following day in the bar. Pizza was nothing special and the dirty fries were certainly not worth the money. I had a gin which came in a short tumbler??? Cutlery was also dirty. Guy behind bar said no football is shown here but then he told the next customer that the football would be on later. Get right please. As we walked to get item from car four staff members stood outside fire exit smoking and vaping. It was really not a good look. On the morning of check out which was 12pm we had a cleaner knock on door at half nine to see if we had left yet??? I mean check with reception. It all seemed very disjointed. I used points for this stay and I found the whole experience disappointing I feel like I have wasted my points. The second day the cleaner also left her dirty cloth on the bathroom and gave us a filthy marked bath mat too. This is not the standard I expect from IHG.

Absolutely terrible for a Holiday Inn. The room was extremely dated and needs complete renovation. How they are charging £311 for 3 nights (+£30 parking) for such a run down Holiday Inn is beyond my comprehension. My room was 202. The lighting in the room is all lamps. Absolutely terrible lighting. The window doesn't stay open so fresh air is hard to come by and much needed as the room and corridors smell musty and covered with a perfumey smell. Horrible! The carpet is coming up which is a trip hazard. The walls, chairs and carpet are stained and nothing looks clean. The bed was ruffled when I arrived which made me concerned it had been changed properly. The bath/shower had a spider in it when I arrived. When I turned on the ancient air con unit as the window wouldn't stay open it blew up a blast of dust. Yuck! The TV didn't even have BBC 1 or 2. The remote control didn't work. There was a constant mechanical hum from a supply/electrical cupboard next to my bed so sleep wasn't easy (especially in such a hard bed). The kettle hadn't been PAT tested since 2016 so I didn't use it. Parking is £10 a night which is complete profiteering. The spaces are too tight and there aren't enough for busy nights leaving people unable to park. The location is good but this is literally the only good thing about this hotel. There is building work being done on the lift. It is still working but can't get to floor 4. You don't exactly want to pay over £300 to have building work going on. I will not stay here again unless a huge renovation is done. It's not acceptable.

Exactly what you would want from a Holiday Inn. Clean, efficient, no fancy frills, but also in a perfect city centre location and with a team of friendly and helpful staff. Peter, the night manager, was exceptional in making sure we were taken care of despite the unsociable hour.

Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was great. Not so good: Lack of parking (I don’t want to park in a Multi Storey) down the road as a female travelling alone. No electrical sockets or USB points beside the bed. Air conditioning unit was extremely loud.

Just returned home from a 3 night stay at this hotel and afraid to say that we will not be returning. On arrival at the hotel the reception was unmanned, eventually a lady came from the back room and asked if we were checking in, no hello or welcome. She then proceeded to say the car park will need to be paid at the end of our stay, asked us for a phone number and told us our room number. She never gave us any information regarding meal times, where any facilities were or even what floor our room was on let alone put a smile on her face! Got to our room, dull, dirty no information in the room. Only good thing was the bed was huge and very comfortable. Went to get a drink at the bar and the member of staff serving was very ignorant, had her back to us reading and told us to wait. Staff at breakfast were very nice and helpful. On checkout, the receptionist couldn’t even bring herself to ask if we had a present stay intact she said nothing apart from to ask for the money for the car park, unbelievable. All in all, excellent location, nice breakfast staff and nice bed but, no customer service skills what so ever from the reception staff or bar staff and acted as if they didn’t want to be there. Rooms need cleaning and a lick of paint but, the staff let our stay down!

Good car parking (charged for at £10 p day). Hotel comfortable, tea/ coffee biscuits provided. Good location within walking distance of most sites - although Steep Hill is called that for a reason! Bar and small restaurant on site. Note - issue getting taxis. Not many available. Would return.
