Went to Palmers last night. Service was slow . My partner and I had 2 steaks his was medium rear my medium. His was perfect mine was dry and over cooked . Was asked if ok 2 minutes into the meal before i tried my steak .but was so hungry we trucked into our meal .I enjoyed the salad and cooked tomatoes more than the steak .When finished our meal no staff came alone. We was tucked behind a wall .out of sight out of mind. We had decided on desert and coffee .we waited and waited . No-one came to clear plates so we walk upto the bar and paid with cash and got change in 10 pence pieces .Will NOT be going there again .

We stopped in Long Sutton on the way home and thought of going to a café, but ended up going to this place. It turned out to be a good choice. The pint was lovely and the food we had was very tasty, and a generous portion, too (proper homemade onion rings!). It was our first time there, but won't be the last!

What a find, found this after seeing a Facebook post. We will be back lovely staff lovely atmosphere but most important wow to find a restaurant that serves hot food, which should be the requirement but most places you go it's like warm. Thanks for a lovely evening

Ordered the posh fish finger sandwich. A) it was a roll, B) the fish fingers were not. They were odd bits of fish over battered and greatly over cooked. Would not use this place again. The staff however are fantastic, friendly, professional and the best part of the

We travelled from North Wales for over 7 hours on Friday, Dec 1st, 2023. The room was clean but not very warm. On Saturday morning my husband went for a shower and there wasn't any hot water. We went for breakfast which was lovely. We had a family birthday on Saturday night. By then the hot water had been fixed. It was luke warm in the room. Saturday, 2nd was an extremely cold day with temperatures under freezing. When we returned to the room there was no heating on. It was absolutely freezing. I couldn't sleep for hours. For the price We paid for our room it was not good enough. My husband wnt to the bar to complain and he was told that we would be moved to another room and refunded for the night. I later went to confirm this and it was repeated to me. We moved room and this one was warm. I had a word with the owner on Monday morning before we left and told him about their promise of a refund. I received an email to review our experience so before doing that I asked Sophie about their promise but she said that no one had any knowledge about this. How disappointing. To lie on top of their inferior room! We had stayed there twice before. This experience is not one we will want to repeat. Beware allRooms: See above

Nice pub with a good section of drinks. We stopped for lunch on our wedding anniversary as we had been here previously and enjoyed it. I do wonder if it has changed management/ownership since our last visit though. Our starters were lovely. Potato & Chorizo fritters and the Bodicea Gin Cured Salmon. We both had the palmers burger to follow and this is where things went very downhill. The burgers were so small and shrunken that they only filled the middle of the bun. It was missing the cheese too and when we mentioned this we were bought a plate of cheese to add ourselves. Hardly the same! Very disappointing service. Yes, we should have complained at the time but as it was our anniversary, we didn't want to ruin our day out and just decided that we wouldn't return.

Picked Palmers Ale House as a half way point to meet friends for lunch. The young waitress who greeted us was bubbly and welcoming and remained so throughout our lunch. The menu was extensive and varied but as the day was foggy and temperature below zero our group all decided on comforting staples; burgers, fish and chips and halloumi burger. We were all more than satisfied with the quality of the food though for us the portions were too large which led to us not eating all that was on the plate and we hate waste. Maybe portions could be scaled back a little. Two of our party had desserts which they reported as being very good. Would definitely recommend and will return.
