Only attended an evening function. Very nice once we could find it. The staff serving at the function were excellent but car parking and lighting could do with improvement in the darker

Lovely place to stay. Rooms need some TLC. Food exceptional for dinner and breakfast, staff were attentive and extremely helpful. The older receptionist was lovely and very helpful, the younger one was sharp and almost uninterested.Disadvantage- there was nowhere to sit and enjoy the company you are with. You have to eat and then go to your room- this needs looking at. We won't be back for this very reason. Shame as it's a lovely placeRooms: Needed love and attention, pillows were marked. Light fitting was wonky. Paintwork was shabby and chipped in many place. Used dated and old fashioned keys to the doors with unusually large key rings. Far to large to put in your pocket.Food & drinks: Food was exceptional and plenty of it. Restaurant staff were really helpful and attentive.

We stayed in lodge number 7 for the second time. The first time visited over Christmas 2022 and unfortunately had to leave due to no heating and faulty electricity! We’ve just returned from a 2night break. The lodge itself is beautiful with a large decking area and sunken hot tub. My husband and I noticed for the second time, the lack of soft furnishings. No cushions, throws, lamps, mirrors, art work or plants. It’s literally the lodge and the furniture inside. The lighting is either bright and on or off and pitch black. No cosy in between! We found it made it less homely and a little uncomfortable to relax. The bedrooms are a great size and so are both bathrooms but again, lack of homely touches makes it quite clinical and plain. All bedding and towels were very clean although, the floor needed a good scrub as it made our socks dirty!! The website states there’s wifi but the lodges don’t have this at all. I rang up to reception and they said it was just the main hotel. The televisions are smart but without the Wi-Fi they cannot function to watch apps such as Netflix. I think this really lets the site down as like my husband and I did, we came away to relax and enjoy the sound of the rain on the lodge! A nice cosy film to watch would’ve been great! For the size of the lodge, the television is rather small and grainy. With it being quite luxurious inside, I think some of the electrical items should be upgraded to reflect this too!! The hot tub was lovely, perfect temperature and chemicals checked daily. In the master bedroom, the walk in cupboard/wardrobe is perfect for drying coats and storing luggage! I think with a few homely touches, more interaction with staff/reception and some good Wi-Fi - this could easily be 4-5 stars!!

Confusion payment soon as we tried to book in as you can't phone and book the room was good nothing special. The evening meal was good but was spoilt by the older male waiter he was very obnoxious by making a rude remarks on what sauces you should not mix with your meal. Breakfast was not brilliant cold toast late top up on drinks i suppose because of minimal staff in the morning .

Beautiful venue and a stunning location. Visited on many occasions and I’ve always been made to feel welcome.

This is my 3rd time staying, but it's my 1st time reviewing. Now, an important thing to remember is I don't book this hotel, but its location and the fact it has a bar makes it a good place to stop overnight. However, it doesn't come without its downfalls. Each time I've stayed, I've been in a room that's very old-fashioned, somewhat mismatched furniture (lamps, stylish chairs, etc). I'm picking up the word "mushroom", the walls always seem to be painted in that colour. Also, cobwebs are always in the corners of the rooms, down the full length and marks on the walls. Now I may have just been unlucky, but I imagine more rooms are the same. Beds... if you like a soft, medium, or firm bed, think again. The two beds in our room, well the filling, seemed to be non-existent. Lay down, I lay, how a formula 1 driver sits in their car due to how knackered the mattress seemed to be. My friend also had the same issue. We're both not fat gits either. Pillows, 1 each (no extras on top of the area for hanging clothes), same deal as the mattress, empty. There was a chair for the dresser, my friend thought he'd broken the chair, turns out it was more like a leatherette hammock. I mean, I imagine it was a normal chair at some point in its life, but it's now a hammock with a solid back. The bathroom could do with a revamp. They just look a little tired, and I think the extractor just makes a noise rather than actually extract steam from the room. Alternatively, fitting a heated vanity mirror would be a smart move.Wardrobe area, whatever it is supposed to be called, no doors on it. Well, it's technically nothing but a shelf and rail underneath. There's a mirror behind it next to the wall, and unless your 4ft tall, you're only seeing yourself from the waist down. Less than ideal.Lastly, the doors to the rooms, 202 in particular. There's an ironic sign on the inside of the room saying, "Please be courteous of neighbours and don't slam the door". That door is taking no prisoners, it goes like the clappers, and I'm not joking it's actually dangerous looking back. It's a weighty door that will slam shut if you don't have a good grip. Then, locking the doors, our friends were in another room around the corner, and their door wasn't as 'easy' as ours to lock and required assistance from one of the receptionists. With all those negatives over with, positives are the staff are friendly and courteous and make sure you know where they are at all times. The hotel is quiet and located a 5 minute drive from the centre of Louth and a 10 minute drive from Cadwell Park, and they are always accommodating for us bringing trailers and cars. Food is good, as is drink (coffee, beer etc). Price wise, I think the hotel is reasonable, but I just wish they would update it (see above points).

Staff friendly and helpful.Rooms were nice and clean.Food was decent and portion size good.Only slight negative was Sunday lunch. Was served covered in lots of gravy. Would of liked gravy in a separate jug to allow customer to choose how much or little gravy to their own taste.Apart from that its a place I would and have recommended to family and colleagues.Food & drinks: Good range of drinks and good choice of food and decent portion size

What an amazing find, the room was beautiful with four poster bed and the bathroom was modern and clean, Very friendly staff, they could not do enough. Will definitely be going back. My only regret was that we didn’t stay longer, also they cater for dogs.

The worst mattress we have ever slept on, and we paid to do so !!! Everyone in my party said the same at breakfast. No soap in the bathroom, which I found really strange. No frills at all. Too much trouble to get a coffee in the evening, told the machine had been turned off., so that was that! No friendly service at all, refused cash to pay the bill, had to be a card. Very disappointed on a whole, felt like our stay was a waste of money altogether. Sorry ? would not recommend at all.

We stopped for refreshments and had a lovely warm scone with jam and cream. Wasn't any menus out though and don't think there was any other choice.
