Lovely large, comfortably furnished and appointed bedroom with ensuite shower room. Room was warm and our two night stay in mid November was very enjoyable. Great food and the staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. Will be staying here again.Rooms: Situated in centre of town, free parking on public square opposite hotel. Excellent food and service with well appointed rooms.Walkability: Situated in town centre close to shops.Food & drinks: Excellent food with a varied menu catering for all tastes.

Called in for brunch with our dog who was immediately given a sausage so she loved it. We had a bacon and sausage bap each which were really good value and the staff were lovely. Will be visiting again.

We ate here as a family for a birthday. The food was OK. Two main courses were very good, one was good and the fish pie was poor. More disappointing were the starters, as the advertised dishes fell well sort of what they promised. The sundried tomato and bread turned out to be fresh tomato chopped up! The whitebait with samphire was also a let-down, as the fish turned up on a bed of rocket - not a hint of samphire anywhere. There was no explanation nor apology for these shortcomings. A real disappointment.Standards have certainly fallen during the past couple of years.

Food is lovely and good selection but the service lets this place down. A bit slow and probably not enough staff on to cater for all customers.

Nice friendly place, we called in for a meal without booking during the Bank Holiday and they made a table available. The service was fast & friendly, very welcoming. The food was good, there's a wide range available, very tasty and served hot.I would be very happy having this as my local but I was only down for the weekends racing. I hope they continue on with success as they have got things right and do it well.

Had a lovely 3 night stay with Bed and Breakfast deal. Food was too notch and dined in twice on the Monday Tuesday night special. Astounding. Trying to show how big my fish was. Lovely staff. Room 7 bathroom a bit small but excellent shower. Loved it.Food & drinks: Just way better than I could have hoped.

Booked here for a meal (17 guys)After the meal I was told off for vaping in a very abrupt manner(no signs up) I was in a separate area so only myself there and when told was apologetic but was followed up with a comment "that's why we have outside" the person was only in their 20's and very unpleasant. Is rudeness allowed in race day?Food & drinks: Spoiled by rude server

The positives: friendly staff, good food and GREAT coffee The negatives: I had to return my dinner as the potato was not cooked and so my husband was halfway through his dinner when it came. It was rectified but it did affect the experience. My bathroom was very small and the bin in the bathroom had not been emptied from the previous occupant! Again rectified but unpleasant nevertheless. Room was very warm and although window could open and a fan provided, did not really air. Overall I was a bit disappointed with our stay as I was expecting better from the reviews. In my opinion not a 5 star accommodation.

DisappointedWe arrived early on in the evening, and were the first ones there for evening serviceShown to a nice table in the window, given dinner menus, but no wine list or proper drink menu. There’s cocktails listed on the back of the food menu but that’s not what I’d personally consider a ‘drinks menu’We had to ask for a wine menu, and this alluded to only being bottles with a small number having ‘available by the glass’ in fine print with the description. We had waited a while for someone to come over and then waited even longer for them to come back after giving us a wine list. The cocktails were nice enough.Starters came quick. The bread and butter board was okay, the server didn’t know what the butter was either when ordering or when handing it to us which was fine, just a note on what could be improved. We did hear her loudly yell to the kitchen to ask what it was.The bread was very hard but otherwise nice. Butter was rock solid and could do with being slightly softened but was tasty. The prawn and avo salad was colourful and nice.Mains. Also quite quick, but weren’t great. The Italian chicken could have been a strong dish but was a let down. Whilst the components were fab, there’s was alot of potato, but only three small pieces of chicken. The onion bhaji burger was awful. A very small Bhaji that was blackened, on a roll. Tasteless and tiny. I cut the bottom half of the bun in half and made a burger like that with just the lower part of the bun, for a size idea. The fries were the only nice part of the dish. However, they were meant to be spiced, my expectations would have been Indian inspired or any form of spices, the only thing they had was salt and lots of it.We opted for dessert as were fairly hungry due to portion size but waited 30 minutes for them which was okay but much longer than we had expected. The crumble was more porridge with not much filling and lots of oats? There was a huge jug of custard that was good. The creme brûlée was interesting, three blobs of meringue on top which was unique and I enjoyed. However, the brûlée was thing with little custard , but what was there was very tasteless and less that average. The service wasn’t great, quite slow, considering there wasn’t many people there and the people near us had empty plates for 20 minutes. The ladies stood around chatting with most the guests looking around for service.Overall, wouldn’t return nor recommend which is disappointing as we had been recommended the place. The reviews were good so hopefully we just went on a bad day. Not worth it and ruined a birthday meal.

We love the lunch choices here and you can get great value from the brunch menu which doesn't close until 2pm. Definitely recommend and the service is good too.

This was a lad's cycling trip, a group of middle aged men in lycra cycling from Hertfordshire to Hull. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Super friendly helpful staff, comfortable clean rooms. They stored our bikes safely and reasonably priced. I'd strongly recommend. We were a bit worried about our bikes but the friendly staff found a safe place. We had a good dinner and breakfast too.

Stayed for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. Very quick check-in--showed straight up to our room. Found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent choices at breakfast and very nice food. Dinner was very good on the Friday evening, and although it was just as nice on the Saturday night, my wife's portion of Sea Bass was far too small-It would hardly have fed a five year old child. If your going to serve this as a fish course, then at least provide a portion size that makes the customer happy. Could not eat there on Sunday evening as they stop serving at 6pm and we arrived ;later than that. However the staff pointed us to a half decent Indian restaurant a couple of minutes walk away, which proved to be fine. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely choose to stay there again if we return to Market Rasen. We di however have some serious issues getting a good nights sleep on two of the 3 nights we stayed. on the Saturday night, the drunk occupant of room 4 decided to return to his room at 1am and turn his television on at full volume. We were in the adjoining room 3 and were woken immediately and kept awake for several hours, before he eventually turned his TV off!! I did knock at his door and ask him to turn his TV off, but was met with a tirade of abuse , followed by the door being slammed on me. this guy has obviously never stayed ina hotel before and had no consideration for any of the other guests. I complained about the situation at breakfast and was told that they would speak to the guy in question. The following evening a similar situation arose, in that the occupant of room 4 fell asleep with his TV on and it remained on throughout the whole night!! Whilst the hotel cannot really be blamed for the above, I think they should consider the layout of the rooms 3 and 4. The TV in room 4 is mounted on the wall which adjoins room 3. Room 3 has the bed positioned so that the headboard end is right up against this adjoining wall, so every time room 4 turns on the TV, it can be clearly heard in room 3. This is very bad room layout planning by the hotel. I would suggest that the TV in room 4 be moved to a different part of that room, or the bed in room 3 be relocated, so it is not near the offending party wall. The above issues would not put us off from staying in this hotel as overall it was a really good place to stay.

We called in at the Advocate Arms for tea after competing in a motorsport event, we were tired and scruffy but the staff welcome was warm and friendly. We all had the braised beef which was nothing short of Michelin quality, and the chocolate and caramel cheesecake was divine, so hats off to the chef and kitchen team, a bowl of chicken was also brought out for our dog, who was allowed inside with us, such an act of kindness you don’t normally get. Overall I cannot recommend this place enough, and we will definitely be calling in again.
