The steak was absolutely lovely, and the service was excellent. Great atmosphere, and I love that we can choose music through an app

Food was low quality and bland. Dinning room was cold. Good selection of beers but expensive. Parking at the back.

Despite living locally for 12 years we’d never been to the Bell Hotel and thought we ought to give it a try. It turned out to be not what we were expecting - not really “hotel” standard!! There was just one room, not particularly inspiring decor, with a bar, tables, TV, pool table and darts. It was definitely a locals pub with quite a large number of people drinking, a group of fairly noisy young men playing pool and rather a lot of loud music. I guess we were expecting a restaurant, or at least a quieter eating area and we were definitely more formally dressed for restaurant dining! The welcome we received was somewhat abrupt - we announced our arrival at the bar with the words “we booked a table for 7:00”, only to be greeted with the reply “we don’t take bookings”. [If that was the case why didn’t the lady who’d answered the phone tell us that, instead of agreeing to a date and time???] However the food (all very ordinary pub grub) was very tasty and not too pricey. Portion size was reasonable and my husband loved the great range of traditional “puddings”, tucking into a huge slab of bread and butter pudding swimming in custard…….apparently amazing!!! Service was friendly and cheerful. This is not the sort of place we’d return to for a special meal but its fine for a straight-forward bite to eat, if you’re happy with a fair amount of noise.

The food is cooked to order so when busy you will have a small wait but it is well worth it as the food is excellent. The staff are very attentive and know there products. Well worth a visit, not to expensive.

I stayed one night. Booked on the day and got very good rate for bed and breakfast. Friendly and welcoming staff. The room I was given was a single with en-suite bathroom. The room and bathroom were clean. Unfortunately the one bedroom window was locked shut as was the bathroom window. No fresh air available. Didn’t sleep well. They did not serve food that night so had to go out. They recommend The Fleece Inn. Had a lovely meal there. Breakfast from 8-9am was a disappointment only option was “full English” with 1 egg, 1 slice of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 hash brown and 1/2 tomato and baked beans, 1 piece of white bread toast. I think I saw a few tiny boxes of cereal next to the two boxes of juice. The coffee and tea was tea bags and instant coffee next to the urn of boiling water. The cups were tiny espresso cups which could hardly accommodate the tea bag and a drop of hot water. The food arrived in good time BUT it was greasy and apart from the fried egg everything else was refried and recycled, I didn’t ask for the hash brown but I got it anyway. I tried a bit of everything but it was “gross”. When I politely mentioned to the young manager lady (who cooked the breakfast) about the tiny Coffey cups, she said “well all you have to do is keep refilling it as many times as you want” Overall, for a one night and last minute booking I suppose I should accept you don’t get much if the price is low. I definitely won’t be going back there again.

We arrived just as the chef was going on holiday. Thus there was a reduced menu which I could not recommend.

We asked if we could order food. We're told we could. So, we ordered drinks and were asked to order when ready. Then, when my wife went to order, she was told food was not served on Sundays. We would not have had driinks if we had known this to start with. The point is, shouldn't bar staff know? You couldn't make it up!

Very friendly staff. Welcoming. We'll presented room. My only criticism is mattresses were a little tired and food just cooked a little bit longer than needed. But definitely would stop a again. Located in a kite village and ground are very well kept too. Very reasonably priced all roundKid-friendliness: Great with my autistic kids... Happy to chat to them while they would chew their ear offParking: Just find a spot round back. We arrived late and still found parking

Overall very disappointing . Burger had no gherkin or chutney and chips not triple cooked. Also grills misrepresented as gammon had no mushrooms onion rings or tomato’s. Overall a very average meal but reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
