Despite living locally for 12 years we’d never been to the Bell Hotel and thought we ought to give it a try. It turned out to be not what we were expecting - not really “hotel” standard!! There was just one room, not particularly inspiring decor, with a bar, tables, TV, pool table and darts. It was definitely a locals pub with quite a large number of people drinking, a group of fairly noisy young men playing pool and rather a lot of loud music. The food is cooked to order so when busy you will have a small wait but it is well worth it as the food is excellent. The staff are very attentive and know there products. Well worth a visit, not to expensive.
I stayed one night. Booked on the day and got very good rate for bed and breakfast. Friendly and welcoming staff. The room I was given was a single with en-suite bathroom. The room and bathroom were clean. Unfortunately the one bedroom window was locked shut as was the bathroom window. No fresh air available. Didn’t sleep well. They did not serve food that night so had to go out. They recommend The Fleece Inn. Had a lovely meal there. Breakfast from 8-9am was a disappointment...read full review
