Lovely pub. Standard pub food with good choice from standard menu. Brunch menu also plus a vegan menu. Good cocktails and mocktails. Nice comfortable surroundings. Could have been warmer though. Really dog friendly with dog choices as well. Will have to visit again. Staff are lovely and friendly.

“Visited the cross house with my dog after a trip to Formby pinewoods. A fantastic dog friendly pub with great food, inviting staff and importantly a wide selection of ale! Would thoroughly recommend a visit!”

I have never been to the Cross House before and I chose it because it was a Greene King pub. Well that was a mistake. Myself and my partner both chose the sharing nachos with pulled pork. After waiting for quite sometime the food arrived. The pub was almost empty at the time. There was no sour cream on the nachos. When I asked where it was, the young man serving us didn't know, so he went to the kitchen to ask. He came back to tell us that they didn't have sour cream. Why were we not told this when we ordered as it is a fundamental ingredient in the nacho dish and is mentioned on the menu. We would have ordered something else. How you can say that this is for sharing is beyond me. It was tiny. There was a couple of spoonfuls of pulled pork in the centre with some nachos, salsa, jalapeños and cheese. No one came to ask if our meal was ok. Mine was very salty and I couldn't finish it. When we went to the bar to pay I complained about the lack of a key ingredient ie the sour cream. But the man behind the bar also didn't know there was no sour cream in the kitchen. Come on guys. How hard is it to tell your front of house staff that one of the key ingredients is missing so you can tell your customers. I'm very disappointed by the whole experience and maybe I should have gone to a Vintage. A very poor experience.

Been here a couple times now, food is very nice however the service is terrible. Each time I’ve come there’s one person on the bar On a busy day, staff never smiling or seems happy to be there. Cheer up and provide better

A fantastic dog friendly pub with great staff and a variety of cask ales. Our two servers Callum and Sam were very helpful and accommodating to our party. Only floor is it was a little cold but that can’t be helped this time of year considering the open space in the pub!

Excellent family meal a few weeks ago. We were there on a Sunday afternoon great roast dinners and loads of kids options. Would eat there again.

After reading some good reviews we invited some friends to join us for lunch on Sunday, December 03, 2023. What a big mistake and total disappointment. We ordered 3 Sunday lunches and 1 Hunters chicken. Food and plates were cold. Asked to have table cleared before ordering pudding - my husband had to eventually clear the table himself. Ordered 2 mini puddings with coffee, and 2 crumbles. Mini puddings and coffee arrived o.k. but, after about 10 minutes we were told that crumble no longer available. Ordered 2 chocolate fudge cakes instead - 1 with ice cream and 1 with hot custard - they both arrived with ice cream - got it changed. Ordered a cappuccino and after about 15 minutes had to ask again as it hadn't arrived. Eventually got cappuccino and waitress said there would be 'no charge' (as by this time about half an hour had passed.) There didn't appear to be many diners there so don't know why service was so slow. The 'pub' area seemed busy enough so maybe the staff were paying more attention to them. The whole place was cold and uninviting. We were happy to leave and get home for a heat. Will we go back again - very doubtful.

Great pub, great location. The staff were very friendly and allowed us to stay the night in our motorhome in the carpark. Had a lovely meal and some drinks. Would definitely

Met a friend for lunch and there were only a handful of customers in there....but it was nice and clean and the young guy serving was pleasant enough. We both ordered the pie....one of us had the chicken and ham and the other one had a steak and ale pie.....and both of them were well presented and very tasty!! The meal came within a reasonable amount of time and the guy came back to check everything was ok and if we wanted anything else. He also came back after our meal and asked again if we wanted or needed anything.....which believe me.....doesn't happen everywhere else!! So overall it was a very enjoyable lunch experience!

Staying here with my dog, storm, in our campervan. Had a great meal and a few drinks. Management and staff are very attentive and friendly. Most importantly, the place is fully dog friendly.

Always a great welcome, at the Cross House. I have lived in Formby for 2 years now and seen quite a few changes to this place, with a great refit a year or so ago. It's bright, warm and the staff are friendly to me and my dog. A favourite in the area!

Absolutely stellar experience! What sets this place apart is the warmth and friendliness of the staff. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and valued. A refreshing reminder of what excellent customer service looks like. Highly recommend!

I had the super grain chicken salad and it was amazing! Great atmosphere and the service at the bar and table were both excellent. Friendly staff and gorgeous food.
