Have noticed a huge turn around in the railway since my last visit. The place was immaculate , well managed , food really tasty , all staff couldn’t do enough, beer garden is huge. just a lovely local pub. So good to see it doing well again. Will definitely be returning soon Thankyou

Great location. The outdoor drinking area is nice, was nice to see cyclists turning up and having a drink and chilling out.Peroni was nice as well!

Not a pleasant experience! The new manager refused to give water to a customer with a dog.In this heat this is not right. Considering you are a dog friendly public house. Ordered my tea with starters all my order arrived together! Speak to the manager about it his answer was what do you won’t me to do about it. Not impressed. He was to busy watching football.

Just been for a meal for our anniversary (13th May) food was awful. We ordered 5 meals 2 had chips which were freezing and the waitress said she'd sort a reduction because of it but didn't. The beef and guiness pie was inedible. There was loads of pastry which tasted ok but the beef was so tough it was impossible to eat and there was about 4 chunks of meat. Seriously disappointed. This is the 2nd awful meal we've had there now sp won't be returning. Sorry sad as used to be lovely

Booked on line today after trip out to formby woods ! Booked in with dog ! Love that they have dog side to pub ! Food was lovely staff were very attentive well done the railway keep it up lovely experience!

We've eaten regularly at The Railway over the last few months and enjoyed it. Clearly, they had a very capable chef. The food was very nicely cooked, well presented and good value for money. However, things seemed to have changed all of a sudden. We went in for a meal with friends a couple of days ago and were shocked at the drop in standard. For various reasons, three out of the four meals were poor in quality. For example, the fish I was served was significantly smaller than usual, was overcooked and consisted of 50% batter. It was returned to the kitchen but I was then served with an almost identical replacement! Nobody visited our table to check whether we were happy with our meals, whereas that was always the case previously. Apparently, there is now a new 'Kitchen Team' and the pub is under new management. We've talked to people who have recently suffered a similar experience. We won't be going back any time soon.

Again the staffing levels and ability not to the required standard. The sound system and the management of the restaurant/lounge area not good. The 2-way door between the kitchen and the eating area was fixed open, allowing a stench from kitchen to come through. Not nice. Not sure if that is a fire door!!!

The FOH staff delivered great service (not sure on names) and the food cooked by the chefs was amazing especially the salt and pepper calimari and the mixed grill. 10/10 will definitely come back

Meal was gorgeous and really good vegetarian options. Came in with my boyfriend. Alice was our waitress and was very polite. Would recommend the waffle!

A couple friends and myself went to the railway for food and it was unbelievably good, I had the posh fish and chips and it was possibly the best pub fish and chips I have ever eaten props to the chef who cooked my meal, the front of house staff were attentive, polite and very friendly and I would visit again in a heart beat cheers guys

Just had a dreadful meal in the Railway pub chips were freezing, beef and Guinness pie was inedible. Really disappointing as this used to be a great place to eat. This is the 2nd awful meal weve had there. Thought we'd give it another chance but definitely won't be visiting to eat again. Very sad.

Visited 13/04, for lunch, the pub wasn't busy and service was quick. The staff were OK, but the blonde hair lady serving food was very pleasant and friendly, we had two dogs with us and they were made very welcome without being over bearing, the food was pleasant and plentiful. The only down was the young girl behind the bar could learn to pull a pint of ale, would of been nice to have a head on it

Thank you for spoiling what should have been a family get together. We booked a table and arrived on time and given a full menu to order from. EVERY dish was off when we came to order!!! Absolutely unacceptable. You need to be more customer focused and let people know in advance if you can’t offer what is advertised. Never use them again. Sorry, but really, really poor customer service
