Me and my partner who is partially sighted decided to 'treat' ourselves to Christmas food using a gift card and cash. Last year we went to Altrincham Waitrose this time we made the mistake of going to Waitrose Formby. I have never been so stressed - the fruit and veg aisles were blocked with customer order trolleys - staff were so stressed and I really couldn't navigate the trolley and guide my partner. We travelled 50 miles for the worst experience. Some of the produce was mouldy - the vegetarian sausages were full of slime ... the vanilla custard - 2 large cartons were dated for the next day. The speciality squash was full of mould and the double cream lid was split. It was without doubt the worse experience - it ruined the Christmas shopping experience and sadly continued to do so when we couldn't use the out of date items. Very very disappointed! Very poor customer experience! We tried to ring the store 3 times and the phone kept being put down. We spent over £200 - not acceptable at all!

Small, not a very big shop,

Sean, in the alcohol section today, went out of his way to help us find what we wanted..

Chris (who was re-stocking the ready meals aisles) was so kind and helpful. When my boyfriend asked if they had any more of the Charlie Bighams Chicken, Ham and Leek pies and he instantly started searching through the stock cage to find some. My boyfriend asked if he could browse and come back which Chris said would be helpful so he can look. Less than 5mins later we saw Chris looking for us down the aisles with a box full of them!Thank you Chris!

Nicely laid out with plenty of space in the aisle. Shelves are well stocked. The staff are usually friendly and helpful.

The Waite and Rose coffee shop Really a 4.5/5Good produce in the main store - we picked up gluten free pasta whilst there as it's the only one I find tolerable and it's pretty close to standard pasta.Cafe itself: excellent coffee, extensive range of Danish pastries, muffins and the like and a range of non-dairy milk options.Take away is only available if you provide a reusable cup as they don't offer disposable coffee cups for environmental reasons - China cups are available as well. The lemon Danish I had was lovely, my coffee was excellent, he commented on how good his black coffee was, which is a rarity, and I wasn't charged any extra for having an alternative milk.Good disabled access and some outside seating where you can have a dog water bowl too.

Really unfriendly and disinterested service after a query about what turned out to be an error on pricing the shelves by the staff. No apology and no acknowledgement of that at all. In fact we appeared to be very much causing an inconvenience by even being there. We walked out and won't be back.
