Cane tonight for first time, probably the last to be honest. Looks decent enough inside. The menus themselves look really naff and unprofessional which kind of sums the place up Food prices are quite high yet the food doesn’t match the price range Food wasn’t bad just wasn’t great if that makes sense Service was an odd one, our waitress was young but really pleasant yet again though it didn’t match the price more akin to a friendly girl in the chippy or something I expected high things but it didn’t match that and I think the owners need to decide whether to offer a decent dining experience or cheap pub food which it seems to be but with decent dining prices Strange place …

Food was poor and understaffed. Tomato and mozzarella bruschetta with no mozzarella returned with melted grated cheddar, steak ciabatta and fries with no fries, prawns with dipping bread , came with no bread, hallumi sticks not great . Very underwhelming. Only one serving staff on who was working very hard and doing her very best, when I complained gave me a discount on bill

Decided to go and support this local place as it had been taken over again. The service was great by friendly staff, the menu options where all different with main menu and small plates, we had small plates which where all beautifully presented and tasted unreal. Belly pork bites , steak and noodles , katsu loaded fries, prawns, fish and chips , my favourite was the goats cheese bon bons, delighted with our food and delighted we have somewhere local to go again with great food

Been here a few times now and never been disappointed. Came as a party of four during my last visit. There was a mixture of vegetarians, gluten frees and steak lovers and we were all very happy with the quality and quantity of the dishes chosen.Vegetarian options: Good varietyDietary restrictions: Gluten free

Visited last night and what can I say? The katsu loaded fries were so tasty and my friend had belly pork bites. For mains we had the steak tagliatelle & sausage and mash they were both piping hot and again delicious. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend and we cant wait to come back in the new year.

Two visits within 5 dsys. Was so pleased this pub had reopened yes prices had increased but we went on a busy friday evening (15Dec) the food was fabulous, service great and buzzy atmosphere. Met new management Gary he was very welcoming great personality and couldnt wait to return and big plus we can take our well behaved spaniel. Why the low stars ? Cos we returned with our dsughter tues 19th dec , not busy all 3 of us had bad meal can only describe it as sub standard cafe food, overcooked /dry and when your paying red fox pub prices you may as well go to the red fox as your guaranteed same standard food any day of week. Felt we had been robbed just so disappointed, doubt we will ever return now. Have to retext all those friends we told to try it!!

Been waiting for this to reopen with new management, we have just been and the food, atmosphere, new land lady and staff could not do more for you to have an enjoyable time. My husband had the gourmet burger my daughter had fish and chips I had the hunters chicken baguette my son loved the kids beef burger and chips it was all excellent with big portions , we would recommend the sticky toffee pudding. And we will definitely become regular customers again see you soon

Seemed like a nice place to go, sadly the food let's it down. Very greasy and onion rings undercooked and covered in dry flower. Could be so much more if they get a decent chef in one more serversDietary restrictions: Willing to modify orders to suit allergies and intolerance.

Terrible roast dinner, ordered 6pm and had feeling it was going to be bad when I was told chef finishes at 7. Beef awful, roast potatoes cold and Yorkshire puddings tasted like last weeks. Plus no green vegetables all I given was 2 carrots, small amount of red cabbage and cold a parsnip. Really disappointed as the Monty had just reopened and was hoping this was going to be different. Please consider that a roast needs veg and cauliflower cheese as a minimum if you want to compete with the best out there. On a positive refub nice and clean, but place needs supervision. Lacks experience.

We were really excited that the Monty had finally reopened after a refurbishment. I ordered a starter of squid rings which were absolutely delicious so we had big expectations for our roast beef main. Could not be more disappointed. Undoubtedly the worst roast dinner I have ever had. The meat was chewy and grisly and the yorkshire pudding tasted like an off pork scratching. It was just awful. Such a shame as the service was top notch. However my dogs certainly enjoyed the roast beef but they eat their own poo sometimes.

After today’s experience I wouldn’t even give The Monty one star! Absolutely awful, and s mean really awful inedible food. It was that bad the chef walked out!!! ( he really did) . On a positive the manager didn’t charge us for the food and only for our drinks. I have eaten here on many occasions over the years and have come to expect a really good meal, but todays meal was woefully bad and sadly was the last time we will go here.

Having been eating at the Monty since it became the Monty, I now believe that the owners/operators are trying to return it to more of a pub. When we originally went it was aiming for a gastro pub/ restaurant feel. Now after approximately eleven years the food seems to be taking second fiddle. Whilst it is well cooked and reasonably well priced the menu is quite sparse, and thus it is no longer a go to choice in comparison to other establishments in the area.
