A really good alternative to the standard coffee bars and other family restaurants in Potter. Nice family run pub. Lots of seating, indoors and out (with river views). Extensive menu, nice food and a cheerful helpful team.

Very good vegan burger - described as spicy thai - was a v good sized vegetable patty of sweetcorn, onion and more - yum! Generous chips too.

We were disappointed as we have been here before and had lovely gluten free fish and chips, no problem, and needs were catered for. unfortunately we visited on Tuesday 12/03/24 and were told by the staff on duty that they couldn't do the gluten free fish as they didn't have the gluten free fryer on. The board outside clearly states meals that can be made available as gluten free., (most of them would require gluten free fryer to be working) We left and went elsewhere. They missed out on our meals, and will probably miss out on our custom in the foreseeable future as we have now found another venue where nothing is too much problem. Called in whilst boating on the Broads. What can I say? Menu was extensive, staff pleasant, food arrived quickly. We were enjoying a family Sunday lunch when what must be the resident entertainer decided to start crooning. To the point we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. He finally shut up but got annoyed when no one clapped. Sunday lunchtime is not the time to have some rude, jaded entertainment.

This place had been recommended by two separate people, so we thought we’d give it a go, had a quick look on the website and saw the following statements… “Delicious freshly prepared food, served in a relaxing family atmosphere with Locally sourced ingredients” and “We’re a family run pub, serving homemade food using locally sourced produce to the people of Potter Heigham. We’re situated just on the broads, so we are perfect for passers-by to stop off and sample our food and drinks menu, whether you’re a local or boating the River Thume”. What is not to like, it is not a chain, it is family owned, that provide fresh home made food using local ingredients! It took us a bit to find as the way it had been described we were expecting a traditional pub by the river, upon arrival it looked more like a converted wooden storage shed and the inside certainly did not look like the pictures on the website. We walked in and found it to be quiet for a Thursday evening, but the team were very welcoming, we ordered drinks and asked about food. The lady behind the bar told us to help ourselves to menus from the end of the bar and sit where we wanted, we opted for a table in the restaurant. Having looked at the extensive menu, we soon ordered a selection from a very pleasant waiter that included the fish platter and mozzarella sticks. The dishes soon arrived and it was very apparent that this was not locally sourced or home made, rather bought in bulk, processed frozen food that needed little skill to cook, just a deep fat fryer. With the exception of the salad, everything was inedible and for what’s was served grossly over priced. We drank our drinks, thanked the staff when we paid and politely left. We are always keen to support local, small businesses, but do expect quality food in return. Having now read some of the reviews on here and the responses from the owner, we are unsure if we just had a poor menu choice, they were having an off night or that is how things are. Looking at the website again, it appears to be incomplete in areas such as the menu section. Clearly there are many great reviews, however we can only speak about our own experience and the expectations that were set from their website description. Hopefully just a one off and wish them the very best of luck for the future.

We have had an excellent beef Sunday lunch. Beautifully presented, perfectly cooked with good quality ingredients. Costa has completely turned this place around. Well worth visiting.

Called in twice while on holiday. First time we had fish and chips ( more like whale and chips), scampi and side salad, and ham egg and chips. Trencherman portions of well cooked food.Tonight was the same order but no whale - instead it was gammon chips and peas. Again it was good portions. Well cooked and flavoursome. The pub was busy tonight with just the one young man waiting on, but he worked like a Trojan (if I could I would have given him six stars), made sure everyone was kept happy and was still cheerful and friendly. Brilliant!

Nice food, good selection of choices (including veggie & vegan options), quick service and friendly staff.Just knocked off a star as the live singer that was there insulted the audience after singing one song, and then seemed disgruntled that he didn’t get a standing ovation or applause at the end (he said ‘I hope you guys liven up soon’), and then proceeded to walk off drink 3+ pints of beer at the bar. It was a Sunday afternoon, and it was a bit odd having live music when everyone was just trying to enjoy a Sunday lunch and conversation (might be more suited to a Friday or Saturday night?)Other than that, we had a nice time, the staff were really friendly, food was served incredibly quickly and we left feeling full.Vegetarian options: Veggie options include a Halloumi & Mushroom Burger, and there is a Thai Spiced Vegan burger available too.

Amazing. Went the other day. Bar tender was sweet and very accommodating. And the Chef went above and beyond after I told him about my favourite dish not being available at another restaurant that advertised it. Even though it wasn't on the menu he still prepared it for me. Although I don't expect that on future visits it was the best version of that dish I've ever had. Amazing, talented and hope that oneday I'll see it on your menus ? Thank-you
