Visited for dinner while on holiday in Hunstanton.Nice big garden and dog friendly (our reason for choosing it) with a great view of the sun setting on the ocean.Wouldn’t quite call it a ‘gastro pub’, it’s a proper pub with pub grub (fish and chips, burgers, etc, typical pub food menu) but the food wasn’t bad and if you have a dog with you, it’s a handy place to go.It could have done with someone having a tidy up - we arrived at 8pm and there was quite a bit of litter lying around inside and out - but overall fine. Not a ‘special occasion’ venue, more of a quick dinner pit stop place.3⭐️

Went on 13/8/22We both had the Butchers Burger. This came supposedly served in a brioche roll. It may have been, but it certainly didn't seem so. The burger was pretty tasteless and it had a fair amount of gristle in it. I counted twelve chips for my serving, though they were quite nice and so was the salad. I just think that when you pay £35.50 for two burgers (with cheese) a pint of lager and a half lager, then it should be better than this. Also, both members of staff I dealt with came across as not really wishing they were there.I realise these places are not fine dining, but I feel the standards here are very poor.I won't be back.

Food excellent, lovely atmosphere, perfect in every way but one. Misserable man charging ten pounds to park. Doesn't seem to understand that some small groups of people just want to have a nice meal and spend a hundred pounds or so.

Improved since my last review although I'd suggest they need to sort the food ordering at bar , long queues with people ordering food and drinks , if you only wanted a drink you would queue for some time. I'd suggest they have someone only taking food and drinks orders and someone for drinks only. Maybe take food orders only at the restaurant area? Apart from that not a bad pub

I chose the sit down restaurant with table service at The Mariner. (They have three dining areas- Outside on the patio, Pub, and Restaurant with table service dining.)Friendly and helpful waitress. The restaurant decor is sadly lacking - it felt a bit like dining in a cafeteria/food hall. The food - I simply ordered a sandwich (Chicken, smoked bacon.and mayo). It was a substantial serving size. (Presented and sized in typical Bar Food style - too large for me.)The only complaint I had was the long wait to get to ask for the invoice and to get to pay.

Lunch party booked for 12-30..as usual I arrived early. So had a Latte while I waited. Then moved into restaurant, looked after by two lovely waitresses, especially when the birthday girl arrived. 12 out of 10 for friendliness.

When to this venue 3 years ago was super, this visit terrible for the following reason. 1 Was not allowed to order starter when ordering at bar . And other tables had starter local guests . Visitors not allowed 2. Was offered a dirty half pint glass for gin did not have gin glass. 3. Food quality was poor. 4 Waiting service dismal. If your a visitor give this place a miss the location perfect for a Drink but not for food.

Had a really juicy steak tonight, one medium well and one well done with peppercorn and blue cheese sauces. Both cooked perfectly as per our requests. Definitely recommend and will return. Thank you ?

Visited with friends and I had my two dogs with me. The customer service started before we entered as the lovely lady who works there came out while I was waiting for my friends with a bowl of water for my dogs. I had a really nice stacked burger with chips that were delicious that we did not wait long for. My burger even stopped my dogs wanting to assault a pigeon. The outside seating area makes the most of the views of the sea and I will definitely be visiting again.

We had Sunday lunch in the restaurant area, which was spacious and clean. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. The food was what I would expect in a good pub, rather than a restaurant, especially as there was also a separate “Bar Menu” and eating area. However, food was hot, plentiful and tasted good. Real chips and excellent roast potatoes (only beef offered for roast). The dessert was a sugar lovers paradise! Huge portion of Key Lime pie with cream - excellent dessert, although I couldn’t finish my portion!

Had a lovely sandwich and shandy whilst over looking the sea on a sunny day. Perfect birthday lunchtime. It got fairly busy and there was a bit of a queue for service but it was lunchtime! Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was generally chilled. Great that dogs are allowed on non carpeted areas. Overall a very positive experience ??
