Just had Sunday lunch at Ollie’s, joined to the Edinburgh at Wells Next the Sea. 2 Roast Pork and a sharing seafood platter. Pork was well flavoured and tender and was accompanied by well cooked but not mushy vegetables. The sharing seafood platter was exceptional, so much seafood that we had to ask the waitress to pack the leftovers for supper. The chips were the best I’ve had for some time. Service was good, friendly quick and polite. Will we go back, you bet we will!!

Had two meals here this week whilst on holiday, both were excellent value for money. Will definitely return. Tuesdays waitress was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Thank you ?Dietary restrictions: Our daughter is gluten-free and was given a good choice of dishes.

This was the first time we'd been to Ollie's. I had lunch with my family; husband, daughter and granddaughter. My husband had fish and chips which he said was delicious. My granddaughter chose sausage and mash in a yorkshire pudding which she couldn't finish. My daughter and I shared a seafood platter which was lovely. The smoked mackerel was the best I've ever had.Service was a bit slow but Ollie's was busy.

Ollie's at the Edinburgh Inn in Wells-next-the-Sea serves wholesome, fresh, British dishes with proper gravy and no fancy jus or fiddly service. Veg is fresh and firm and potatoes, chips, all good. Food and plates are hot. Portions are generous. We ate several times on a self catering cottage break. Service very good and flexibility in booking. You get your own drinks at the bar which is no problem, as reasonable prices. Recommend for proper everday food. Steak and trimmings for under £20, what's not to like! Local ingredients. Home of Lifeboat crew, good local atmosphere.

First time in Wells and we discover the straight narrow yards as they’re called, are mostly filled with quaint, period holiday lets. Ours, a converted barn is beautifully laid out and so it should for the money. End of March, below 10° at night so it was definitely still out of season. The views, the walks and the cafes are all excellent and so we thought, would be the places to dine of an evening. Oh dear, perhaps not. We checked out the menus of all places and the reviews too. The Crown and The Globe we thought a bit too out of London to be charging so much for what they had on offer and for these few days R&R, my husband had dressed like he was in manoeuvres with the TA. So without thinking we needed to book, we tried Ollie’s, or the Edinburgh, or Chi’s massage Parlour (as the sign says on the outside). Our server looks like we’ve asked her to show her TV licence and is instead just concerned where to seat us as the immediate dining area is all taken. The tables in the bar area are apparently not for dining at, so we’re taken through to a brightly lit cold and empty room, the bit which says it’s a beauty therapy business on the outside. I’m quickly reconsidering our choices when the husband suggests necking this and moving to a warmer bar/pub. Order a burger without the bacon and he orders fish and chips. We are joined in the room by a table of 4 and their dogs and they’re unconcerned about the environment so I quit fretting about it and dig in to my burger. It’s a lump of unshaped and unseasoned minced beef the size of a large fist. The only flavour is from the slice of processed cheese. The bread bun is soaked in the fat from the mince. The onion rings are portion sized, not as a garnish and are blisteringly hot as are the chips. I’ve seen better presented food from a trailer outside B&Q. Needless to say, the dog had half the burger. The staff serving us and the lad behind the bar are casual and polite. The beer is great and the atmosphere in the bar area is warm and friendly and toilets were clean too. For a seaside town that looks like every other house in the 1800s was a pub, what it’s left with now is disappointing.

During our recent visit to Wells we decided to visit both the Edinburgh and adjoining Ollie’s. This is clearly the locals’ pub and on our visits the bar was thriving. Good range of drinks at reasonable prices. We decided to eat at Ollie’s and were pleasantly surprised. Lovely welcome by the member of staff and she was professional and helpful throughout the evening. Typical pub grub - fish and chips delicious. Staff very attentive and maybe the bar staff could learn a little from her professionalism!

Popped in for a delicious coffee in this friendly comfy bar when visiting Wells . The next day discovered I had lost my purse. Called all establishments I had visited and lo and behold my purse had been found by Ollie’s Staff who went above and beyond and arranged for it to be posted back to me. so grateful, World class customer service- thank you

Went for a meal with my husband and two children. The menu was small and basic pub grub. All meals were homemade and cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend.

Popped in new years eve for a few pints and a bite to eat, both the beer and food were excellent! (Especially the white chocolate cheesecake!)
