First visit for an evening meal for five of us. Need to book as it's a popular place. They have a bar with a good range of beers etc. but it's more of an eatery than an actual local pub. Parking is tight and on a junc. Roadside parking is available but on narrowish roads. Food was excellent & we all felt it was some of the best we'd had out for a long while. Not cheap (£19) for fish of the day - but I'd have it again because it was beautifully cooked & the accompanying veg & butter sauce (beurre blanc) was simply delicious. They obviously have a great chef - & the venison was outstanding. Will be going back.

I feel like we must have come on an off night, because we were really disappointed. The wait staff was LOVELY, kind folk! No complaints about service. However, the food was really mediocre at best. My partner got a cheese souffle and there was no crispy kale (despite that being one of three things mentioned on the menu), instead there was bagged salad on top. I got the mussels and had about ten before I started feeling a bit off and had to stop. They had a slightly fishy, dirt taste and I couldn't find it particularly enjoyable. With the ratings being so good, we'd been looking forward to coming for ages and we probably won't be back. But no fault of the staff, they were lovely, and I love there's a dog friendly area. (We were there at 6ish on a Thursday for context)

Been to the Boars 4 or 5 times now and received really good service on every occasion. Great food, a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Highly recommend. The only negative thing would be it's difficult to park when it's busy as there are limited spaces, but there is plenty of room down the road.

Lovely last minute find for dinner after a long drive!One of the best chicken burgers I’ve ever had. Great food all round!Service was friendly, even though the food did take quite a while to come out, but worth the wait.

Loved it, Tuesday lunch deals are excellent value. Will definitely be returning. Great value even at full price, really delicious food and obviously top notch ingredients. Lovely friendly, relaxed staff too.

I have eaten here many times, on my own due to being in the area on business and I am going back again next week. The quality of the food is excellent, I eat out a lot but this one wins hands down. I wish I lived in the area!The picture is of the pear dessert.
