This was my first ever visit to this restaurant, and I must say I was not disappointed at all. We came here on the 19th of December 2023, whilst visiting our family members in Easingwold. I must say that the staff here were so helpful, kind, friendly and provided first class customer service. I ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas and I was not disappointed in any way shape or form. The food was first class and it came with its own home-made tartar sauce. There was plenty of food and it was definitely worth its money. I also had the Americano coffee with hot milk and this was Also extremely nice indeed and they didn’t use instant coffee it was fresh percolated coffee which was beautiful. The restaurant itself does have a small step to enter the building and a bit of a lip by the door, so it may be a little bit tricky for wheelchairs to gain access to, but if there is somebody to help them then, yes they can definitely come into this restaurant without very much problem at all. Because I am blind I couldn’t see if there was a disabled toilet so I can’t advise either way on that one. The atmosphere was very nice indeed and the music was background music but it was Christmas music which was very very nice indeed. I definitely would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody, wanting first class, food, service and a wonderful environment to dine in. I must say I would definitely come to this restaurant again as it was a lovely afternoon out.

We booked The George as Hubby had a 5k run in Heslington on the Friday evening and wanted to do Millfield Park Run on the Saturday. We arrived earlier to have lunch there, as we would not have felt like it later on after Hubby's run and the food service would have finished anyway. The food was really lovely, so plentiful and we were FULL! Our room was really nice, overlooking the market square, big and well decorated. The bed was super comfy! Breakfast was really lovely and the dining room is so quirky! The only wee niggle we have is the checking in and out procedure. They must be aware that most people will check-in at the allotted time and should have someone there to check you in. We stood at the bar for at least 10 minutes before someone actually came to see to us. She had walked passed us several times and said she would be with us in a minute! Much the same on check-out albeit not as long a wait as check-in! This would not put us off from staying here in the future, would recommend.

We found this gem of a place to eat when we were holidaying in a neighbouring town. We returned twice and wished we had found it earlier. The service was excellent, being pleasant, professional; it was friendly and courteous while maintaining a good balance of customer service. The menu was varied and the cooking was superb. Well done to all involved. We are already looking to return for a mini break, this time using it as our base to explore the area further.

Having had evening meals here previously and the staff had catered very well with our gluten free requirements, we decided to stay as we were attending a relatives birthday event. As we had our little dog Oscar we stayed in one of the outside rooms designated for dogs. The room was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Oscar was well catered for with a bed, blanket, treats and a tennis balls. The food at breakfast and evening meal was excellent. The only slight negative was the lack of dairy free spread or milk. This was a little surprising as previously flora spread had been available. The staff were friendly, helpful. There is a small park close by for dogs to exercise. A further walk takes you to Mill fields a large open space with a woodland walk. The village is pleasant with a variety of pubs and coffee shops. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the George highly.

Busy pub, all staff very friendly and welcoming. They accommodated our request for a table at dinner even though we only arrived at 5pm. Food outstanding, well able to cater for kids as well. Room for two adults and three kids was very comfy. Great having a room for 5 as often we have to book two rooms which makes holidays very expensive but this room was very reasonable. Everyone enjoyed their cooked breakfast, all cooked to a high standard. Great pub, would book again if in the area.

A warm welcome to a cosy pub. Very busy with locals and visitors made for a intimate and cozy atmosphere. Apparently the pub/hotel had reopened after a two week period of renovations. We were in during the first night after the renovation and despite being busy the staff were welcoming and friendly. We ordered sirloin and gammon steaks both of the dishes were outstanding. A lovely experience overall.

Our 2nd stay at this fabulous hotel. Just love everything about the place. Easingwold is lovely. The bus in to York stops right outside the hotel. The food in the George is delicious. The rooms are dated'ish but perfectly adequate. We will be back the atmosphere is perfect.

Dave Turnbull I have just had the worst customer experience from the George Hotel and would not recommend , they have cancelled my wife’s birthday meal on 2 day notice family travelling up , very poor no real valid excuse asked for menus to be sent in advance for 4 weeks guess what never arrived on email, has ruined a family occasion

We stayed for 1 night last week. The welcome was pleasant, the room spacious and newly refurbished with quality carpets etc. The bed was large and comfortable with lovely bedding. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant that evening, our request to be moved to a quieter table was granted. Just outside our room was the kitchen extractor which roared away until well after we went to bed. It woke me at 7.12 when it was turned on again. At breakfast we were seated in a miserable, draughty corner well away from the dining room. Our order was wrong and we didn’t enjoy our food. When we came to check out we found it hard to find anyone to settle our account and ended up knocking on the kitchen door to find a member of staff. I don’t think we’ll stay again.
