BATA Easingwold Country Store & Garden Centre, Raskelf Rd, Easingwold, YorkBrandsby’s Coffee Shop is the definition of a hidden gem — the sort of place you stumble across by accident and then immediately start plotting excuses to return.
Tucked inside a garden centre, it has that quietly comforting atmosphere: friendly staff, gentle hum of conversation. It feels lived‑in rather than curated, which is exactly the right tone for a rural coffee stop.
And then there’s the lemon and blueberry cheesecake. Honestly, divine doesn’t quite cover it. Light, sharp, creamy, and the sort of thing that makes you pause mid‑bite to reassess your life choices. If I’d known it was going to be that good, I’d have arrived hungrier.
Overall: warm, welcoming, unpretentious, and serving cake that could convert the sceptical. A proper find.

The New Inn
Flawith Rd, Tholthorpe, YorkWe had a great stay in Tholthorpe, in the apartment above the pub, and ate at the pub on one of the evenings.
The food was fantastic and all home cooked, fresh and local. Although the pub was quiet on the night we visited, everyone was friendly and we had a lovely evening. The New Inn is well worth a visit if you are in the area!

The Curious Coffee Company
Market Pl, Easingwold, YorkLovely spot, very busy on a Saturday after a parkrun.
Staff were very good and accommodating. We all enjoyed our orders. Coffee was on point.
Not all of us are dog lovers but you are foretold of this. I'd prefer if owners controlled their dogs as not everyone wants a dog wandering around all the tables.

Market Pl, Easingwold, YorkBusy place for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Not sure we quite fitted. Lots of runners and fitness people while we were tucking into a full English!!

The Durham Ox
West Way, Crayke, YorkThe Durham Ox is set in the beautifully quiet and quaint village of Crayke. It has one of the most extensive wine menus I have ever seen. While we did not eat here the menu looks incredible, it's slightly on the pricier side, that being said, it looks to be fine dining (only judging by the menu and the setting)
The staff and locals were so friendly and enjoyed the north south banter. Just a brilliant place to spend some time.
