We stayed here for one night on the 28/02. We checked in around 5.30pm and the receptionist was really friendly and polite, and she kindly showed us to our room as we hadn’t stayed before. She gave us all the information we needed, but they do have the reception desk manner 24/7 so always someone to help. Our room was No 34 a signature room at the front of the hotel, overlooking the car park so not a great view, but then you don’t pay for that. It had large shutter windows which were a nice touch. The room overall was great - really spacious, a HUGE entrance/dressing area with wardrobe, tea/coffee facilities and dressing table. Bathroom really modern and water temp and pressure great. Only small issue was some of the shutters were broken so didn’t stay open/shut which was a shame. You can cast to the TV as well which was great! The hotel is about 15 minutes outside of York so great if you’re here to explore the city. The grounds are really quiet - hardly heard a thing our whole stay! Really loved our stay, would definitely come again if we visit York.

Monday 12th February 24.I was really impressed with this hotel, the main building is a very impressive timber structure. The room was very nice, clean and very spacious. Nice decor, although a shame the name tag was removed from the dcuk. Good selection of tea bags & fresh milk in the fridge.Large bathroom with good water pressure. Nice smelling soap & toiletries, a shame about the single use plastic pots for the toiletries though. The onsite restaurant is very nice, lovely timber structure, friendly helpful staff, and very nice food. The breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had! A few highlights you don't normally see were fried slice, black pudding and french toast on the hot buffet. Plus a nice fresh pastry selection.I would recommend, and will happily stay here again.

Food & drinks: We came for the winter warmer menu at Tykes. The venue is so lovely and the food first class quality, however, there is always something in the service which lets it down. Last time at afternoon tea the young server told us a wrong price for the drinks...there seemed to be no soft drink option only tea and coffee, so a few had to buy one. Embarrassingly we disputed the bill with the wrong information and we're not sympatheticly treated. This time everything was ok until coffee, then this was dumped down and the young man shot off and disappeared. He had not brought any sugar and my coffee was almost cold, but we couldn't find him. I had to go and interact with the chef to get some sugar. The 24p dessert was nice, but very small. Luring you in with the promise of a dessert, should say small portion of dessert in the menu. We ended up paying over £60 for an impromptu lunch. Wouldn't have normally minded, but more care needs to be applied to customer service.

Visited for a Rotary Charter dinner on Saturday. Excellent service and great food for 80+ people.Food & drinks: Great service at dinner
We stayed for one night to join friends for dinner. The check in was easy, aided by the friendly reception/bar staff who made us feel most welcome. Our room was immaculate, well thought out with plenty of space and good facilities. We dined in Tykes restaurant, again the staff were excellent and dealt easily with a couple of dietry requirements. The food and wines were flavoursome and excellent value.Overall a great experience, good value for money.

We had a courtyard view room. Lovely clean and spacious, double doors looked out to courtyard, only downfall was its not private. Your looking out to other rooms and people sitting in the main foyer area. So you then felt like you had to draw your curtains. Which then defeats the object of the view! Very expensive in which case for what it was.Beds were okay in my opinion, not the best I've ever slept in and we spent £280 for one night here. I'd suggest just booking the cheapest double room I'm sure they're just as nice.
