Scotchman Ln, Flaxton, YorkHad recent stay with my daughter. All the reception, restaurant and housekeeping staff were amazing, very helpful and kind dealing with our various requests. Good food choices, views and surroundings lovely, handy for York and shopping parks etc.

Breezy Knees Cafe
Breezy Knees, YorkA good lunchtime menu. Toasted sandwich with roasted vegetables and side salad was tasty. It was good to have a pot of hot water with the tea. Plant milk was available but pricey at £1 for a small jug. It was pleasant to sit outside on a sunny day.

Hickory's Smokehouse York
Shipton Rd, Skelton, YorkMy friend brought me here for a birthday treat, omg its amazing. The food is amazing. The staff are very attentive helpful and fun yet professional and even asked about allergies and checked all food items that we liked.
The atmosphere is great,fun, lovely lights at the table and they sang happy ? our server brought out a complimentary waffle/donut with a sparker- a nice touch though I get embarrassed easily. I cant remember our server a very nice young man - nothing was too much trouble. It was a nice touch with comfy seats, kitchen roll saved us ? at busy times there maybe a wait but we didnt mind because it gave us time to natter and let our food settle before dessert. If you havent been please do try as it is well worth it thank you so much for your wonderful service on 19/10/25 from Heather

Arboretum Cafe
Castle Howard, YorkWe enjoyed our visit to the cafe after a rainy walk around the arboretum. We were warmly greeted and served quickly. Half our party had various intolerances and the owner was able to provide gluten free vegan scones and various types of milks. The cakes were lovely including the pear and oat slice and the raspberry crumble. Delicious.

Castle Howard Cafe
1 Laundry Flats, Castle Howard, YorkNice cafe in the courtyard at the front of Castle Howard. We were slightly sceptical about value when we arrived given the scale of the visitor attraction, but the food was good and decent value too. The Welsh rarebit was a touch overcooked but still very tasty. The breakfast muffin was great value, better than the full English one, and very tasty and filling. Drinks were pretty expensive, so we just had tap water. Staff were friendly and efficient, and the overall atmosphere was good too.

Sandburn Hall, FlaxtonLovely place, great food.\nWe were staying in the adjoining hotel and ate here on the evening. The surroundings are beautiful, plenty of space between tables so it does not feel like your dining with the people next to you. Service was good, and most importantly food is very nice. I had the braised beef and my wife had the chicken dish, both cooked to a high standard.\nWill defo return.

Crown & Cushion
Welburn, YorkJust had a very convivial lunch here, stopping in the middle of a long walk with the dogs. Beautiful pub with an excellent, reasonably priced menu and a well-kept cellar. The staff were delightful and solicitous, bringing snacks and water for the dogs. Recommend.
