Sandburn Hall

We stayed here for one night on the 28/02. We checked in around 5.30pm and the receptionist was really friendly and polite, and she kindly showed us to our room as we hadn’t stayed before. She gave us all the information we needed, but they do have the reception desk manner 24/7 so always someone to help. Our room was No 34 a signature room at the front of the hotel, overlooking the car park so not a great view, but then you don’t pay for that. It had large shutter windows which were a nice touch. The room overall was great - really spacious, a HUGE entrance/dressing area with wardrobe, tea/coffee facilities and dressing table. Bathroom really modern and water temp and pressure great. Only small issue was some of the shutters were broken so didn’t stay open/shut which was a shame. You can cast to the TV as well which was great! The hotel is about 15 minutes outside of York so great if you’re here to explore the city. The grounds are really quiet - hardly heard a thing our whole stay! Really loved our stay, would definitely come again if we visit York.

Castle Howard Cafe

1 Laundry Flats, Castle Howard, York

Our group of 8, including a wheelchair user, was looked after extremely well. We were made very welcome and space was created so the wheelchair could get in easily. The food was delicious (and prompt). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks for looking after us so well!Wheelchair accessibility: Great wheelchair access and very helpful, friendly staff. 10/10 for wheelchair cafe experience!

Arboretum Cafe

Castle Howard, York

We enjoyed our visit to the cafe after a rainy walk around the arboretum. We were warmly greeted and served quickly. Half our party had various intolerances and the owner was able to provide gluten free vegan scones and various types of milks. The cakes were lovely including the pear and oat slice and the raspberry crumble. Delicious.

Came here on our way home from Filey. Ordered a Breakfast Burger without egg. The burger was so nice, had a beef pattie, sausage bacon with a side of has brown and beans. It was absolutely lovely apart from the hash brown has been over cooked slightly but was lovely! Definitely

Very nice place to head out for a meal either in the restaurant or the bar.Not the cheapest in the area but excellent down to earth food. Very pleasant staff. Clean toilets. A very nice young man behind the bar. The assistant manager. He will go far. A really lovely evening. Thankyou so much for making us feel welcome.

We had dinner here this evening. I have eaten here before on many occasions over the past 20yrs and have never been disappointed. The steak night offer tonight was excellent. The food was beautifully cooked and presented well. The service was 100% perfect. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating.All the surroundings are very well maintained and immaculately clean. We can not recommend this place highly enough.
