Amazing pub in fact the best I’ve been to in a long while. Beautiful location and equally as beautiful inside. Lovely beer garden overlooking Stainforth Beck. The sound of the fast running water is amazing. Great selection of quality ale, the decor as full of character and charm and the landlord is very pleasant and friendly. I will be returning to try the food. Beef dripping fish and chips served here and it sound delicious. Very much looking forward to going back to try it. All in all it’s a brilliant pub.

YOU CANT PARK HERE!Parked in the car park whilst unloading for a local Airbnb. Whilst waiting for others in our party to arrive went to the Craven Heifer to have a drink. Upon arrival at the bar the publican hit us up about our cars. Apparently you can only park in his car park if you are a guest of the pub. Admittedly we weren’t staying in one of his ensuite rooms but we were paying customers having a drink. The publican made it very clear that the cars couldn’t remain where they were. We assured him we were moving them when the others arrived. If you want to run a successful business you need to be kind and polite to paying customers at your bar. Needless to say we moved the cars quickly but it left a sour taste

Visited for breakfast this morning, Amazing food, best breakfast we’ve had in a long time! The lady who served us was lovely, we walked up with the dog and didn’t realise they aren’t aloud in the pub but we was able to sit in the beer garden with him ☺️

Took takeaway fish and chips because sadly dogs aren't allowed inside - such a shame because we wanted to try their pies.

The biggest issue: my room had a huge skylight with no blind to cover it. So when the sun rose at around 4.30am (I stayed mid-summer) so did I. Quite pricey for what it was. And breakfast was not included. The room was clean and the staff were friendly enough in a plain-speaking, local style. It's in a tiny village. Quite pretty. Settle nearby is lovely as is, of course, the surrounding countryside.

Came for a few drinks and a bite to eat after walking up Pen-y-ghent and were blown away by the warm, friendly, and generous welcome we received. Food was delicious but we will definitely be back for the service most of all. A welcome family run pub.

No dogs allowed in a pub that’s is in middle of walking country is poor!! signs up everywhere telling you what NOT to do!! Poor women in kitchen on her own trying to serve a pub fullNo ice cream left for kids massively disappointed with the pub Shame really

I stayed for one night at the Craven Heifer at the end of May, prior to running in a nearby trail race. I quite often stay in rural pubs with my running and the Craven Heifer is one of the nicest I`ve stayed in to date. It`s an absolute bargain for what I paid, as I`ve stayed in many places that were much more expensive and nowhere near as nice. It`s a proper country pub, full of character, with really friendly staff, all set in a picture post card village. My room was, modern, spotless, comfy, quiet and I slept log. I had fish and chips for my evening meal, which were cooked the old fashioned way and were perfect, washed down with a couple of pints of perfectly kept Tetley`s Cask. My only regret, is that I didn`t get to sink a few more on the lovely little terrace area, that runs alongside the river at the side of the pub !!!! In in all all, a perfect stay and I wouldn`t hesitate to go back.

Just back from a two night stay at this lovely country pub/hotel. We arrived slightly later than the check in time after finishing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in a longer time than expected so the kitchen was unfortunately closed but Lindsey made us a chip butty anyway which was very much appreciated. After a few drinks we hobbled up the stairs to a very clean and well presented room. The next day we enjoyed more drinks sat by the river on the rear terrace before moving into the restaurant for a lovely meal, I highly recommend the steak and ale pie. All in all a very pleasant two night stay which I highly recommend to anybody doing the 3 peaks, just make sure you reserve a table if you want food as it gets booked up quickly. Many thanks from Shane & Karyn

This place advertises being a good base for the 3 peaks walk but trying to sleep when there is a loud person shouting through a microphone well after 11pm not ideal before any kind of physical event. Do not recommend if you want a good night's sleep. Landlords view was "this is a country pub love not a hotel". In which case don't advertise yourself on hotel websites. Avoid if you want a good night sleep.
