Lovely place. Both Timothy Taylor’s landlord AND theakstons best. Two of the best ales in the world - both on cask!Nice pub grub menu - I had the scampi and it was very nice.Dog friendly and had a chat with a couple locals who seemed like a nice welcoming bunch. Landlord and landlady (I think) were nice folk to us.LOVED the thoughtfulness of supplying a small pair of scissors with the condiment packets. I hate opening them things and invariably make a mess. Much more civilised with scissors!

Amazing atmosphere and welcoming staff. The food was exceptional. I can't wait to return when I'm in the area again.

Had a fantastic carvery, the meat was cooked to perfection & carved the right way too, very tasty, veggies just right too - not soft & mushy ??Friendly staff & reasonable prices throughout.

Stopped to eat on 24th Sept 2023. It was Sunday Carvery. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. No fuss, no bother. Food was everything we had hoped for. Delicious, plentiful and excellent value. We were in fed and out in about 20 minutes. Clearly family run. This family deserve to prosper. Thank-you for your good honesty hospitality.

The place was packed with locals enjoying a community pub, but we were welcomed and seated in the busy pub area. The menu had some nice choices. I went for lasagne, which arrive quickly. It impressed me this was home-made, as was my partner's fish pie. The portion was large and the whole meal very tasty. Prices are very reasonable. A real traditional northern pub, highly recommended.
