Avoid if possibleThis restaurant added 2 x meals to my bill and 5 emails later and a copy of my receipt submitted, they have not refunded me. This leads me to believe that this was not a mistake and possibly something they do when the restaurant is busy. Avoid this place if possible but thoroughly check your bill before paying if you must eat here. Check for additional meals and drinksParking: No

We were passing on way back from Helmsley and found this lovely place. It was Sunday lunch and they were extremely busy. We hadn't booked but we were asked to order drinks and a table was found right by a lovely open fire.Food was brilliant and will definately be visiting again. Thanks to all.Parking: Loads of space on car park at back of pubKid-friendliness: We had a 2 year old with us who was made very welcome

Had a great Sunday roast and my husband said his steak and ale pie and mash was the best he'd had.

We visited on two occasions for our evening meal, the staff are so very friendly as well as the locals the pub has a real warm atmosphere. The food was very good and tasty particularly the homemade pies, the haddock and chips is very tasteful with a very light batter and homemade chips which did not break the bank!

Great Sunday carvery. Lots of freshly cooked vegetables, three roasts to choice from, or all three. The meats were cooked beautifully and the chef sliced them thick. Nice crackling. Good homemade Yorkshire pud with lots of tasty gravy. It was spot on in every way. Friendly atmosphere in the pub, lots of locals, made us feel welcome . Worth looking at the website for details of events and specials. We’ll be back when next in the area.

Went last year and was great. This time bar was inaccessible, too many people sat, stood and eating at the bar. Plenty of room elsewhere. Ate in the next room. Didn't like it.

Not the best carvery I've had but by no means the worst.Enjoyed what I had and venue seems to be very popular

The carvery is excellent! The meat was superbly cooked and there was a vast selection of veg to add. The landlord was really friendly and made us feel very welcome. We were camping locally and were really pleased to find such a nice place to eat and relax.

Out in the rag-top with the dogs, looking for somewhere to eat. We were only aiming to have a snack, but saw some posters along the A170 advertising a carvery at the Rose and Crown ... and they serve until 5pm. Carried onto Nawton and parked up in the spacious carpark. Then took the dogs for a quick walk before lunch. They have a good selection of hand pulled bitters, Theakstons, Wold Top and Kirkbymoorside (sorry, not sure which brewery), went for the Wold Top, wife had a Malbec. Onto the carvery, big chunks of beef (there ws gammon and turkey too), good selection of vegetables (Cauliflower Cheese would benefit from a bit more cheese), Yorkshires and a really tasty gravy. Really strong horseradish, and bonus, Yorkshire Salad. Really enjoyed our meal, it'll be added to our places to go for good food and ale. Total cost including drinks 35 pounds, really good value)

Called in on a Wednesday night for a bar meal while staying nearby. We received a friendly welcome and had no problem finding a table. There was a good selection of reasonably priced beers at the bar to choose from and can recommend the Pathfinder Pale Ale. From the menu we decided to try the sharer fish platter starter, then a "Parmo" and a homemade steak pie. The food was nice, portions good and all reasonably priced. Service great and all the staff very friendly.
