With its beamed ceilings and small L-shaped bar the White Swan has a nice, cosy feel to it and on a quiet evening, when both pubs were almost empty, we much preferred the White Swan to the Black Swan across the road. We enjoyed pleasant service and ditto re the beers. PS - we also had a pint in the George and Dragon, but as that is a bit of a “foodie” pub, I don’t really count it in such comparisons.

Lovely little pub, really friendly. Dave landlord was so nice to talk to, along with the locals. Husband said guiness was very good, he should know!! I tried the Aspell cider which was lovely!!

Homely, locals pub with a welcome for visitors too. Small but with character. Good staff. It's buzzing when the local foot team are in. Oh and great real ale :0)
Great beer garden to watch the footy, landlord not such a bad chap either.

Best beer in town and friendly service. Cash only accepted. Large beer garden and friendly customers. Only downside was the Covid security. It's no good having sanitiser and a signing in book but absolutely no attempt to enforce any social distancing. This applied to both staff & punters. There was little or no distance between people from different households and several people standing at the bar by the "No standing at the bar" sign unchallenged. Didn't feel safe so left after 1 drink.

This is the best pub in town especially when The Moorside 3 are playing.
