When waiting in a very cramped spot with staff trying to pass we were made to feel like we were in the way. Eventually shown to a table for 6 (3 of us) a very sour faced man with no manners took me to the table and then asked me if we would share if necessary, I replied I will ask my family to which he rolled his eyes and looked annoyed my family said they would prefer not to - he sighed , rolled his eyes again and looked at us as though we were a complete annoyance. I said stop pulling your face at us and he then replied that he would lose a table for six …….. perhaps he shouldn’t offer a table for six to three in future then so that his customers aren’t subject to his rude ungrateful behaviour. I have visited this shop twice and on each occasion this man has been rude ….. use one of the many other coffee shops in Knaresborough, don’t give this man your business as quite frankly he doesn’t deserve it.

I have visited the Lavender rooms on two occasions, and on both had terrible service. So much so that on the most recent occasion we left before sitting down - when shown to our table we were told by the man serving us that he had just lost out on a table of 6 because of us (a table of 3, however this was the only table available and he gave it to us!). He was very rude. Do not visit here, they do not deserve your custom! Lots of nicer tea rooms in Knaresborough.

Quaint little cafe, stopped in for hot chocolate and scone after a soggy circular walk.

Loved this place! Excellent gluten free sandwiches, soup and cake. Very friendly and nice quirky old building.

Sat here now outside having an amazing coffee with a gorgeous Bakewell Tart. The rest of the family had a warmed up cheese scone and a traditional scone with James and fresh clotted. Service 10/10. Well done to all.

Called here to shelter from the rain and shared a Lavender and Lemon scone with tea. We ordered the scone because it sounded different. Wow, what a big scone with plenty of butter, ample to share between the two of us - Deelicious. Yorkshire tea to compliment the scone, went down a treat

After visiting the Mother Shipton Estate we wandered into the town of Knaresborough looking for somewhere to have lunch and came across the Lavender Tea Rooms. As they had tables outside in the sunshine we thought it the ideal place for us to stop. The tea rooms are actually up some stairs and have more tables inside, although we still opted to sit outside in the sunshine. When I had placed our order the young lady asked for my table number and I had to apologise as I had not realised there was one. She smiled and told me not to worry and that she would find me. When our coffee and food arrived, the young lady did, indeed find us. We were surprised at the sandwiches, they were quite rustic and not at all what we were expecting. And they were delicious, if somewhat messy, but that is all part of the fun of being on holiday. The service was efficient and the food swiftly delivered and excellent. Top marks.

I am in a wheelchair and sat at an end table. You can't get inside as its upstairs. There were no menus on the table we could see. My carer went upstairs and when she asked about menus was told brusquely they are on the table. (It was clear there was not going to be interaction). A man came to clear the table and I asked for the umbrella to be put up. "Too windy". Sorry, I pointed out at least 3 others up. He was very offhand then messed about saying it was broke. He left. The people on the next table said "he wasn't very nice was he". As we had brusque service both upstairs and downstairs, we didn't need to find a menu, as we left. Going passed later, the umbrella was up?

We came here on a whim whilst exploring Knaresborough. The staff were friendly and the food was lovely. The tearoom was nicely decorated and offered a decent menu as well as a specials board

Perfect tea room lovely salads and all day breakfast plus the bread and especially the butter were gorgeous. Cakes looked nice but didn’t have any. Service quite slow but the kitchen is tiny so to be expected. Beware wasps on the pavement! Inside is nice and breezy, the perfect lunch spot.

Visited this tearooms whilst on a day visit to Knaresborough. We were 2 families consisting of 4 adults and 3 children. Quickly seated and given time to look at the menu. Order was taken by "a funny man" (youngest child's description). He was engaging and playful with the children and adults. Food order was very varied and all requirements accommodated for (couple of fussy eaters). Food and drinks arrived promptly and everyone enjoyed their food immensely. I personally had the coronation chicken sandwich and it was the best I'd ever had. Bread was amazing. My husband had a ploughman's and the cost of it must of only just covered the price of the cheese on there!! Would def come again if we end up that way on our travels.
