We have been to the Crown on numerous occasions, the Parmo's are up there with the best around. Chips are outstanding.

What a disappointment so looking forward to lunch ! went for my birthday for Sunday lunch ordered small beef , my goodness was small ! 2 slices of beef !!! Hair in food , lunch cold had to send back to be reheated cane back with a hair in it ! Tried Eaton mess for dessert…. 1 strawberry cut in half at bottom of dish ! No sauce what a disaster ! I won’t be going again and wouldn’t recommend either

I booked through Opentable at the Crown Hotel for my husband's birthday. The picture of the dining room looked lovely, with tablecloths on the tables (a must for my hubby!) and there was a very reasonably priced menu of 2 courses for £22 and 3 courses for £25 plus a decent selection of gluten free. On arriving at the hotel we found there was a wedding fair on! We waited at reception to ask which direction the dining room was - the receptionist was busy giving directions to a delivery guy and made no attempt to acknowledge our presence! Eventually, she asked if she could help and when we said we had a table booked in the restaurant she told us we couldn't have because the dining room hadn't been set up because of the fair. We would have to eat in the bar. We went to the bar, there were no staff, a few people already in and at last a very scruffy looking woman came and showed us to a table. The chairs were uncomfortable -we tried 3 different tables to find a chair that wasn't broken - and of course the menu was different. Very little gf choice and no 2 courses for £22! The place looked tired and worn and dull and totally uninviting. We got up and left and ended up eating at the Ivy, but that's a whole other story! So my question is - why is Open table not up to date on what is happening at the restaurants it is representing? You wasted our time and basically spoiled our day!

Had two courses. Black pudding bon bons and feather blade of beef. Really well cooked presented and tasted amazing. Very quick service and waitress lovely. Very quiet and ambience lovely

The Afternoon tea was very good, good selection of sandwiches and lovely selection of cakes and sweets. While the gentleman serving us was very polite he never returned after serving to ask if thinks were ok and even when I went to pay he never asked if everything had been ok or even if we had enjoyed it.

My wife and I decided on a late lunch and decided on the Crown. What a great choice. Friendly staff, good selection on the menu to choose from, the ambience and decor is lovely and the place is spotlessly clean. My wife decided on the small Haddock , a very generous portion, beautifully cooked arrived. I chose the steak and mushroom pie with veg and chips., thouroughly enjoyed up our meals.

Pleasant surroundings service good just wish it was bottomless tea or coffee and the option of Prosecco in with the package

We visited today for lunch as a family of 5 - each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was spot on, in fact they couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive even though the pub was full. I’m sure we’ll be back some time soon.
