Carlton-in, Coverdale, LeyburnAs the rain had stopped we decided to have a night away at the Forresters. Was a sound decision.as the room was great , the atmosphere so friendly and the food very good. We were made very welcome by Warren and his son. Just looking forward to next time.

1A High St, LeyburnDrove over from Masham to collect as there is a lack of takeaways that way and wasn’t disappointed. Pizzas and both Kebabs were superb, meats were fresh and properly cooked. Lad on counter was friendly and order was ready for collection when we arrived.

Dragon Inn Chinese Restaurant Leyburn
Market Place, LeyburnFirst off this place deserves a 5 star rating , not a 3.7. We drive from Chico to eat at Dragon Inn . Was worried they wouldn't be the same after the elders retired and turned it over but it's still just as awesome . More then 5 stars if possible . Food and service all wonderful .

E Witton Rd, Middleham, LeyburnProbably the best pub I've ever been too. Staff are incredibly friendly, music is amazing, drinks are very reasonable and overall an amazing atmosphere. Thought my holiday was going to be ruined at first, but went to the black bull and the hospitality we received was incredible, it saved my entire trip and created an unforgettable experience
PS. The owners dog, Oliver, is friendly and adorable. Just made the visit better! :)

Special shout out to Mandy who was fantastic. Her ginger snap really snapped and was 5* - watch out Bake Off - give this girl a pay rise! 5⭐️ all round

I thought it was quite pricy, but the taste said different .
Plenty of parking , but gets full quickly, donation in bucket.
Went back to Andys shop 13/08/25 & got a cheese pasty. The best cheese pasty. Full of cheese & strong cheeder cheese.

Main Road, East Witton, LeyburnBrilliant Pub located in a scenic but hidden location. The service was great from all of the staff. It was very busy because we visited on Mother’s Day but that did not affect the service.
The food was very traditional but quite pricey. Overall I’d say it was worth the trip down.

It’s right in the heart of the town, so whether you’re passing through or staying nearby, it’s an easy stop—and definitely worth it.
The first thing that stood out was how welcoming it felt. The staff were genuinely friendly and down-to-earth, not just ticking boxes. It’s got that cosy, lived-in feel—stone walls, a proper fireplace, wooden beams—everything you want in a classic Yorkshire pub.
Food-wise, I was pleasantly surprised. The menu had all the usual pub staples, but with a bit more care and quality than you sometimes get. I had the [insert your dish here—e.g., steak & ale pie or Sunday roast], and it was really well done: hearty, flavoursome, and clearly homemade. Proper portions too—no one’s leaving hungry.
They’ve also got a solid selection of local ales and ciders, which I always appreciate. It felt like they cared about keeping it local and authentic rather than just offering the same generic line-up you see everywhere.
The atmosphere was relaxed, with a good mix of locals and visitors. You get the feeling that people actually enjoy spending time here, not just popping in and out. It’s the kind of place where you could just as easily have a quiet pint on your own as settle in for a long lunch with friends.

The new management team were struggling with some legacy issues including no central heating however they were doing their absolute best. Danny and his team were very welcoming and friendly, the beer was great, and the food was fantastic.

Pheasant Inn & Caravan Park
A684, LeyburnStayed a week on the caravan site behind The Pheasant Inn. The site is well maintained. The electric, if available, is 6amp so enough to keep the lights on and the fridge cold. The pub itself is traditional and the prices are very low.
It is a pleasant walk into Leyburn past a brewery, distillery, and the preserved railway station.
Just remember that they don't take cards. Cash is king here.
