Stayed over for a night and was surprised by how quaint and beautiful the building is. Georgian(?) vibe and the double bed was firm. Pretty big toilets! Was served a lovely hot English vege breakfast :) a 10-ish minute cab away from the

Slightly run down in decor, Ripped wallpaper and curtains) but this is more than made up for by the staff and the welcome they provide. Food is very good and they recognise that a dog is part of the family and all of them treat it as such. The woods outside provide a convenient and pleasant walking space. Dogs are allowed in all but one location. Great hotel and thoroughly recommended.

We frequently stay at the Solberge when in the area and have our work Christmas parties here. Every visit is wonderful. The hotel is beautiful and the food fantastic, but the stand-out is the staff - this is the best hotel for their staff helpfulness, nothing is too much to ask and their help organising events is brilliant. Every person you meet weather a part time waitress or manager are so happy to help. Thanks to the wonderful team for always being so fab!

I went as part of a group occasion. The place itself was lovely and had a lovely setting. The food was slightly disappointing. The people in the party who had beef said it was nearly raw and they were unable to cut it or chew it. Gravy and horseradish sauce were brought out when the meal was almostfinished. The kale was inedible, the vegetables on the plate very sparse.

Went there on one of our weekend trips for a couple of nights. Bed and breakfast with evening meals and a cream tea thrown in.This is a really nice place to stay with plenty of space and grounds to walk in.The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are great with lots of choices. The evening meals are ok with a varied menu to suit most people.Bar prices are what you would expect to pay, which are not too over the top.The room we had was huge and very clean and tidy. It was, however, cold at the time we visited as the central heating wasn't working properly. They did, however, provide an electric heater in the room, which helped take the chill off, and if we needed another, then we only had to ask, and one would be provided. The toilet roll holder kept falling off the wall as it was a suction cup type and not much use, so we left it off, only to come back and find it on again after the room was serviced. It fell off again as soon as you tried to use it.There are plenty of parking spaces.Clean toilets. My only criticisms are that they are very slow to clear the tables, and this makes the place look a bit untidy when you come down for breakfast and dinner. They also put a service charge on the bill when you are about to leave, which is about 20%. which I find really annoying as I usually tip what I feel is right depending upon the service I receive. This charge is discretionary, so it is your choice to pay or change or not to pay. But I personally don't like to see it on there. There are plenty of places to see around the area, and this is a good base to start from. We went to visit Richmond,North Allerton, Thirsk, and my favourite Helmsley, a very pretty market town, which is a must-see place.Overall, it was a very nice couple of days, and we will return in summer.

We went to Solberge Hall Hotel for our 30th wedding anniversary . We had 5 rooms in total and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The welcome and attention to our party was excellent, Connor who looked after us whilst we dined, was really helpful. The food was beautifully cooked and all those in attendance agreed wholeheartedly. Not a scrap of food was left on a plate. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.Rooms: The rooms are very spacious and plush. All amenities provided.Food & drinks: Food was lovely and cooked to perfection, an excellent menu.

Stayed 2 nights on dbb offer which was good value via greatlittlebreaks The evening meals and breakfast were all really good and well presented. The room 16 was fine but bed was not very comfy but that personal choice. If in the area we would stay again . All the staff were really friendly and service at meals was really good.Food & drinks: 2 courses set menu was £25 or 3 for £30. Choice of 6 starters and mains. All food was really nice.

Disappointing Afternoon TeaWe were so looking forward to afternoon tea at Solberge Hall today and but we were disappointed with the overall experience. On arrival we booked in at the hotel reception to be told we were not on the afternoon tea list (ops!) but our booking was in the reception’s diary. We were told it wasn’t a problem and we were taken to a very well presented table with a lovely view. I noticed the cup was stained and had lipstick on it. This was mentioned to the waiter who, instead of accepting my word the cup was dirty, stood and inspected the cup for the offending staining and lipstick. Once he was satisfied it was dirty apologised and offered to change it.When placing our order we were told there was no Cumberland sausage roll, which was part of the menu for afternoon tea, but the waiter offered to provide a couple of glasses of fizz instead.Tea was served in a shabby stainless steel teapot which detracted from the china cups, saucers and side plates. The sandwiches, scones and the selection of cakes were very good and we were offered fresh/more tea after we had finished eating. While eating we noticed the family that arrived after us did get sausage rolls. We were pleased for them but this just added to our disappointment.
