Perfectly set up for walkers, this accommodation is located on the Coast to Coast path. The welcome was warm and perfectly geared to assisting exhausted walkers. The accommodation is good and both dinner and breakfast excellent. The wi-fi is also good, which was critical in the successful online purchase overnight of tickets to Taylor Swift!

Very friendly staff and great food. Walkers on the coast to coast path, having meals and drinks, provided a lovely atmosphere too

Why is someone this rude and grumpy running a pub?! No customer service at all. This pub could be a little goldmine with the right landlord. Don't bother, even the beer was warm.

The rooms are simple but clean. Just what an walker needs. There was an friendly girl invite to the hotel and bar. Good tasted cold beer when arrived.Fantastic food at the evening. Nice women served the breakfast at the morning. Nice idea to leave the sticks and boots downstairs. Actually they dried the boots in front of a fan.

I stayed here in the Coast to Coast which provided a variety of styles of place for comparison. Unfortunately this was the worst place out of 17, and I wouldn’t stay there again. I found the attitude of the landlord unwelcoming and surly, and very much felt that guests were there under sufferance. Check-in at 4 was late given most of the guests were on the C2C and arrived earlier. Meals are at fixed times, my evening meal was OK but cooked breakfast was cold by the time it was served, although I arrived on time. The room was comfortable though, if dated, but not unfitting for an old pub.

This pub is not catering for its clientele who are on our visit anyway predominantly those on coast to coast walk. We arrived wet and cold to see a sign on door informing us we wouldn’t be let in until 4pm. At 4pm the ‘admittance procedure was awful. Had to choose evening meal prior to seeing room and getting out of our wet clothes. If u r on C2Cfind somewhere else to stay. On a positive rooms were clean and evening meal was nice

Don't go here. You're not welcome. Go to the campsite near the church where there are spare tents and you will be warmly welcomed whatever time of day you arrive. It's not a good experience at the White Swan despite it being the only place to eat in the village. The landlord has no customer service skills at all. We three senior experienced walkers were made to feel like children when we arrived. His instructions are extreme and the way he speaks is rude. After dinner we asked for coffee but were brusquely told he couldn't possibly serve us coffee and that we could only have drinks from the bar.The portions of food can only be described as mean - breakfast was one small tomato, one tiny fried egg and one small sausage. The atmosphere with other walkers at dinner was however it's saving grace. Great cameraderie. Hence the one star.Wish someone else would take this pub over.

The draft beer was great indeed. But, the feel of this "Pub" is not really comfy. There was no music (?), and the landlord looked more like he wanted to close soon... not a place where you'll have another pint.

Room was comfortable and clean, had a pleasant over night stay. Shame we couldn’t get inside our accommodation until 4pm (we arriver at 2pm). On arrival we didn’t feel particularly welcomed by the land lord and the atmosphere at dinner was subdued. The waitress and cook were friendly and lovely and the service was fantastic.

Stopped for a drink at the end of a days walk on the coast to coast route.

Nice pub, decent menu. You have to order the food before 5pm and then it's cooked and ready to serve from 6.30. I had the liver and onions with veg and gravy. It was tasty. The veg cooked well. The gents opposite me had the pie which looked really good as well. They said it was. Pavlova for dessert. Nice, fresh. I don't drink any more, but there was a good selection of local ales as well.
