We were very happy to find this tucked away little place. Cash only: makes sense. Quirky, hand-written menu did the job. Five tables only upstairs with a traditional appearance & ambience. We enjoyed the best ever, generous portion of quiche, plus a meat roll. With coffee, £15. Excellent value all round. Pleasant owner who was welcoming.

We went here on New Year’s Day, so perhaps the service was not up to normal standards but regardless of this we were greeted in a very unfriendly manner by the presumed owner of the Cafe, he was very rude, blunt and ignorant and I got the feeling he didn’t want any customers as they were a nuisance. We were told to go upstairs to take a table and after being handed the menu which was scruffily hand written on paper. we waited at least 25 mins for two very simple meals. The food was very average, and poor value for money as the quality was disappointing. The jacket potato which had been microwaved was bland and tasteless, it was terrible for £7.50.We found the toilets to be pretty dirty and there was an unpleasant smell, suggesting the room hadn’t been cleaned in a while. When we paid, (cash only, no card payments allowed) it was £20 for two simple meals and two fruit juices, we were conned. No receipt was offered either. If this is how the owner runs his cafe, he shouldn’t have bothered opening and doesn’t deserve to be supported.

Fantastically delicious pork sausage and mash, fair price and brilliant homemade pastry made by a hard working, warming, friendly lad, made for an extremely recommendable little inn. Must go!

Lovely little spot - ignore the butter review. The guy could not do enough for us. The food was amazing, generous portions. We will return. It’s a little gem. Thanks Debs and John

Went in for lunch, a couple of tables outside and 3 tables upstairs. Quirky interior, with paintings and assorted crockery for sale. Attended to instantly, order placed and delivered to table quickly. Ordered home made quiche, what can I say to get across how perfect it was. Huge slice of totally delicious quiche, accompanied by large side salad, dressing ( gorgeous) and coleslaw. Poor front of house/waiter/cashier ( owner?) seemed rushed off his feet but was so pleasant and took time to chat. Totally 5 stars!!!
Lovely lunch, cosy cafe and very friendly service! Highly recommended!

This is a superb little cafe run by passionate and knowledgeable people who really care. The food is excellent, the scones perfect and the range of home baked cakes amazing. Shun the bigger chain places further into the town and go here as you won’t be disappointed just like we weren’t. Thoroughly recommend.
