Capplemans Fish and Chips
11 Market Pl, PickeringWe have been here for fish and chips several times before and have not been disappointed. My wife and I had a meal there today and had a great seat to accommodate our dogs and the waitress was very helpful. We both had fish and chips and they were great! Lovely fish, which was very hot and cooked to perfection. I had a large portion and would recommend a medium for most people (though I did eat it all!). Highly recommended as a great place for a meal or light lunch and pot of tea. Next time I will try the fish pie…. Or scampi or…..choices eh?

cafe cocoa patisserie
6 Smiddy Hill, PickeringWe were very happy to find this tucked away little place. Cash only: makes sense. Quirky, hand-written menu did the job. Five tables only upstairs with a traditional appearance & ambience. We enjoyed the best ever, generous portion of quiche, plus a meat roll. With coffee, £15. Excellent value all round. Pleasant owner who was welcoming.

Potter Hill Fish & Chip Shop
13 Potter Hill, PickeringNew to TripAdvisor but this really deserved a mention. Arrived Saturday with my family, the grandchildren decided they wanted chippy tea so followed the sign and found this place. I'm so glad I did everyone agreed these were the best fish and chips we had ever had!!! We had a mixture of different things all cooked to perfection decent sized portions and very light crispy batter top notch!! It was fairly busy when I arrived and I'd thought I'd be in for a long wait but the food came quicker than I thought, the 4 girls working must know what they are doing!! All polite and smiley genuinely looked happy to be at work which is a rare thing in some places these days. We will definitely be back for another visit before the end of our holiday if the kids had there way we would be there every night.

The White Swan Inn
Market Pl, PickeringVery nice good food great service lovely comfortable quiet rooms, being able to park car next to hideaway room a good advantage in not having to cart bags and clothes up and down stairs.Rooms: Hideaway rooms are the best, the treat room even more so.Nearby activities: Whitby worth a visit, great Italian bistro at top of the street and a few nice shops and pubs.Food & drinks: Plenty of choice in other places to eat and drink.Noteworthy details: The 1940s weekend was great, hope it is brought back soon.

Best Restaurants
Willowgate Bistro
Willowgate Bistro, Willowgate, PickeringA place we have visited for many special occasions and Wednesday evening's dinner was as wonderful as ever! The staff are fantastic, friendly and passionate, making you feel valued and the table service is top notch without feeling fussy. I had venison for starters, beautifully balanced flavours and textures. A scrumptious succulent monkfish with mussels for main. My husband had Pickering trout followed by lamb loin, polished off both with a grin! We shared a cheesecake, which was light as air and melted in the mouth and a chocolate cherry mousse cake equally as delightful. A meal that will last in my memory until the next time we get to visit this fantastic restaurant. My only suggestion on the atmosphere, would be perhaps to soften the lighting even further with candles on the tables, the lights in the window interrupt the views down the high st and I love snooping out of the window! Thank you Willowgate Bistro! Xx

Cedarbarn Farm Shop, Cafe & Miniature Railway
Thornton Rd, PickeringField great but currently a bit boggy. A bowl and water provided but as it's a standpipe it does freeze up in the cold. A hut with chairs if rainy and picnic table if not. Trees to sniff and water, a bank to climb and even chickens nextdoor. And a ball thrower which was great as we forgot ours. Pippa thought it was great until she realised there is a children's playground nextdoor too. A trip to the café after was a great treat. The food is always great.

Dale Head Farm Tea Garden
Dale Head Farm, Rosedale East, PickeringSuch a quaint little tearoom off the beaten track, I'm so glad we spotted all the great reviews for this place on TripAdvisor, we weren't disappointed. The hot chocolate was divine - so much so I've come home and treated myself to a velvetiser! Food was delicious. Really welcoming atmosphere. Would love to visit again in the summer months so we can take full advantage of the lovely garden area.

Botham's of Whitby ~ Pickering
8 Park St, PickeringWe called in at Whitby Bothams just for a cup of tea. We were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome by the lovely staff. We later bought cakes and pies from the shop downstairs, which were excellent as usual. We’ve been visiting the various Botham’s cafe and shop for many years and they are always brilliant and very good value in our opinion.
