Very disappointed. We'd read good reviews and so were looking froward to going there. The lady behind the bar was pleasant and our dog was welcome - but, we found the food was expensive with disappointingly small portions.

Lovely meal in a warm and cosy pub with a beautiful harbour view. The shellfish linguine was excellent, husband and some were very happy with their scampi. Service was great, polite, friendly and attentive.

Great location but poor food. We come here annually in January. The steak pie and chips used to be amazing !! Over the last couple of years the standard has really dropped. There was mould on the windows and a wall but tbh I wouldn't have minded that if the food was good. We will go somewhere else next time.

Lovely food & excellent friendly service on a cold January day. Dog friendly & location like from a movie!

Fabulous food in a friendly pub. The signature dish is worth every penny. There’s something on the menu for everyone, so we had no problem eating there twice.

I won’t eat anywhere when lied to. Terrible communication. Food very nice but service appalling. It’s a shame.

Stayed for a few nights over Christmas 2023 and dined here a couple of nights. Service was great, the staff were on the ball and not chatting/sat doing nothing. We even managed to have a meal on Christmas Eve, without booking. Portion sizes were massive. The pub welcomes dogs. It was a perfect experience for us. Would go back next time in Staithes.

In daylight, this establishment has great sea views, very small outside area however. They only do bookings for 50% of capacity …?! Unfortunately, my family and I had a really poor experience re the food and service. One meal (salmon) was delicious! The other 2 meals ( pie and see food skewers) were not so! - the amount of salt was just ridiculous, the pastry on the pie was old and it had been re heated in the microwave. Salad was brown and wilted. - we asked if we could give some feedback - accepted, however got told that knowone else has complained. We left after paying a rather large bill feeling angry. If you want a proper home cooked, hearty meal in a pub that is cosy I will heartily recommend the Royal George!! We should have gone there

Its just so crazy busy; a small space ; it was like being in a train in the rush hour; people standing in between tables waiting on the waiting list Food was nice: sea bass lovely :fish and chips a bit ordinary Waiting staff lovely when they could get to you I guess they are just too popular! Not a relaxing evening!

A lovely warm welcome on a wet miserable day at the Cod and Lobster. We were only staying for hot drinks but the menu looked great so would definitely one back for a meal one day.

Looks absolutely stunning from the outside, overlooking the harbour, you would think it would a beautifully authentic pub but once inside it completely loses its magic. We got there after dark (after a 4 hour drive) and there are 'big lights' on everywhere which are just so overwhelmingly bright that it was completely unbearable. Staff were friendly enough but didn't eat there (which was initially our intention) so can't comment on the food. Needs a bit (or rather a lot) of a makeover to take it back to how it probably once was... or just turn the lights off and put in some nice low wattage lamps to make it cosy! ?‍♀️

It’s the most stunning location overlooking the harbour, beautiful village, always a great atmosphere (Monday mid December) with generous portions cooked to perfection. Have to say I miss the old real potato chips but hey ho. Need to shout out to the one waiter on tonight - welcoming, efficient, observant. And looked relaxed throughout. He’s a keeper!

Called at the Cod & Lobster before heading home after a weekend in Whitby and this place didn't disappoint. Great seafood plenty of choice and the waiter really helpful. Really enjoyed my meal "Cod and Lobster" and a starter of mussels and my partner had seafood linguine which was plentiful also at a very reasonable prive. Will definitely return anytime I'm in the area. Thankyou again.

Great little pub full of character and charm. Serving some delicious food - we had the best chowder I have ever tasted, bursting with fresh seafood. Great selection of drinks too - would definitely recommend a visit - Staithes is a gorgeous unspoilt little village
